On Thursday night, the Marshall County Tigers clinched the second seed in the upcoming District 12-AA tournament by hammering archrival Giles County 12-2 in six innings at Sam Davis Park to complete the season sweep of the Bobcats.
After narrowly defeating Giles County 4-3 in extra innings two days earlier, the Tigers (17-6, 13-3 District) held a 4-2 lead through the first five frames of Thursday's contest before exploding for eight runs in the top of the sixth to cruise to their sixth straight win.
Thanks to their triumph over Giles County, MCHS will now host one of the two four-team pools in the District tournament.

The Forrest Lady Rockets travelled to Eagleville for an afternoon ballgame on Friday and they brought the heavy lumber with them in a big 10-1 win.
Sara Jordan and Katie Warrick bashed homeruns for Forrest, who banged out 16 hits in the District 9-A contest.
Warrick also picked up the win the circle for Forrest, giving up one earned run on seven hits, while striking out nine and walking just one Lady Eagles' batter.
Warrick was red-hot at the plate, going 4-5, while Lainey Mays (3-4, 3RS, 2RBIs) and Liz Daughrity (3-5, RS) both had three base knocks in the game.

The Cornersville Bulldogs (13-13) put on a good show for their fellow classmates on Thursday afternoon when they defeated the Eagleville Eagles 7-4 at home in front of the CHS student body.
Cornersville trailed 2-0 at the end of the first inning, but outscored the Eagles 7-1 over the next four frames to take a 7-3 lead before staving off a late Eagleville rally attempt.

The Marshall County Tigers (18-6) reeled off their seventh straight win on Monday afternoon when they defeated District 12-A co-champ Summertown 2-1 on the road to earn a split of the season series with the Eagles.
Having lost the last two meetings against Summertown, which included a 9-7 setback on March 28, the Tigers held a 2-0 lead through the first six innings of play in Monday's contest before withstanding a late rally attempt by the Eagles (23-5-1) to hold on for the one-run victory.

Because of a soaked softball field at Community, the Unionville girls came over to Forrest on Monday as the home team and they found out the Field of Dreams belonged to the Lady Rockets, who smashed the Viqueens 16-1 in a five-inning run-rule win.
"That was a special way to end the regular season," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "Everybody got to play and everybody got to hit. I was pleased to see those young kids come in and they all did very well."

It was a sweet senior night for Marshall County at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg Thursday night as the Tigerettes swept a doubleheader from Fairview 7-1 and 16-4.
Marshall County head coach Holly Cook said about her seniors, "These three (Austyn Whaley, Morgan Moyers, Katie Crabtree) are real special to me and very special to this program. They have been the epitome of leaders for their whole four years; not only on the field, but off the field they are exactly what we want are players to be, so I am very proud of them."

With just a week to go in the regular season, two of three county softball squads find themselves in thick of their respective district races, beginning with the Marshall County Tigerettes, who are on the heels of Giles County, one game back of the Lady Bobcats in the District 12-AA standings.
The Tigerettes (16-7, 10-3) have been on a late season surge, winning eight out their last ten contests, including four consecutive district match-ups.

The Marshall County Tigers had to do some extra work, but managed to complete the season sweep of District 12-AA rival Page on Monday night by defeating the Patriots 10-6 on the road in 10 innings.
Having beaten Page 7-3 three days earlier, the Tigers (15-6, 11-3 District) held a 6-0 lead through the first three and a half innings of play, but the Patriots (15-7-1, 10-6 District) came storming back and tallied six runs over the next three frames to tie the game at 6-6.

After defeating Culleoka 8-1 the previous evening to clinch the second seed in the upcoming District 11-A tournament, the Cornersville Bulldogs were forced to settle for a split in the regular season series with their conference rival when they suffered a 5-3 road loss to the Warriors on Tuesday night.
Cornersville (12-13, 9-3 District) held a 1-0 lead through the first two innings of play, but Culleoka scored five runs in the bottom of the third to seize a 5-1 advantage before staving off a late Bulldog rally attempt.

The Forrest Rockets are in a battle for some home cooking in the first round of the upcoming District 9-A Tournament, and they took a big step towards that goal Tuesday in Chapel Hill, coming from behind to win 7-4 on senior night versus Community.
On Monday, the Rockets' bats were silent, managing just one hit, while going down on strikeouts a dozen times versus Dillon West at Unionville in a 2-0 loss.

Coming off a hard fought extra inning victory over Page the previous night, the Marshall County Tigers needed more late game heroics to beat archrival Giles County on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Bobcats 4-3 in eight innings at home.

The Marshall County Tigerettes (16-7) had their eight-game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon after losing 12-2 in four innings to a strong Buckhorn Lady Bucks squad in the semifinals of the Lincoln County Border Battle.
Despite their loss to Buckhorn, the Tigerettes finished the weekend with a 4-1 record and ended up taking home third place in the tournament.
Ranked sixth in the current Class 6A Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, the Lady Bucks (29-12) displayed a potent offensive attack and pounded out 14 hits overall against MCHS starting pitcher Jacey Perryman and reliever Grace Medley to go along with two walks and three Tigerette errors.

The Forrest Lady Rockets trailed Spring Hill 4-0 in the first inning before chipping away to tie the game in the fifth, but a couple of costly unearned runs and some clutch hitting by the Lady Raiders was the difference in the 6-5 loss.
"We have to fix that early game stuff," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "I believe and they agreed, that we don't go in to every game mentally intense and that got us beat tonight, I do believe."

After receiving a first round bye in the single elimination portion of the tournament, the Marshall County Tigerettes advanced to the semifinals of the Lincoln County Border Battle by defeating the Tullahoma Lady Wildcats 4-0 in five innings on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals to record their eighth straight win.
MCHS starting pitcher Grace Medley kept Tullahoma's offense under wraps and limited the Lady Wildcats to just one hit and one walk in the contest while registering four strikeouts en route to picking up the victory.

A large, enthusiastic crowd of Forrest parents and fans attended to cheer on 90 high school and middle school football players as they took part in the 2013 Rocket Football Lift-a-Thon on Friday at the Lion's Club Fieldhouse in Chapel Hill.
The event was a major fund-raising effort for the Rocket football program, while it continued the commitment to a rigorous strength and conditioning program set in place by the Forrest gridiron staff.

The Marshall County Tigers celebrated Senior Day in style, as they pummeled District 7-A-AA foe Fayetteville 11-3 on Monday night in Lewisburg.
Having defeated Fayetteville 4-1 in their previous encounter on April 7 at the Franklin County tournament, Marshall County (8-4-2, 4-2 District) put almost constant pressure on FHS goalie Nick Landers in Monday's contest and outshot Fayetteville 41-16 overall.

CHS starting pitcher Taylor Wolaver handcuffed the Lady Tiger lineup, as she tossed a one-hitter while registering seven strikeouts and issuing no walks en route to earning her fifth victory of the season.

The Forrest Lady Rockets (12-5, 8-2) turned in their best overall effort of the season Monday at the Field of Dreams on senior night, handing Moore County (12-8, 8-1) their first district loss of the season in a 3-0 shutout win.
"That was a solid effort, I didn't feel like we made any mental or physical errors," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "It was very important to defend our home field for our seniors in their last home game and we are very proud that they made that happen."
