The FMS Lady Rockets unblemished streak continued on Friday at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, sweeping a doubleheader over the Spring Hill Lady Generals in a pair of exciting 5 inning contests, 2-0 and 3-2, respectively. "They were good ballgames, they weren't pretty, but we'll take it," said FMS head coach Bunky Elmore. "We had a few things that didn't go our way, but they worked hard, we prevailed and came out on top." more
The Marshall County Tigerettes picked up an important District win on Thursday night when they defeated archrival Giles County 9-7 in Pulaski to record their fourth straight victory over the Lady Bobcats. Giles County came into Thursday's contest with a 2-0 record in District 12-AA play, but the Tigerettes cashed in on a slew of defensive miscues by the Lady Bobcats and appeared headed for an easy win after building a 9-0 lead through the first five and half innings of play. more
The FMS Lady Rockets swept their first four games at the Lady Bulldog Classic in Columbia on Saturday before falling 5-2 in the championship game to Spring Station. The loss to the Thompson Station squad in the title tilt was the first setback for Forrest (13-1) this season. "We just came up against a good hitting ballclub and we just couldn't close that two-run deficit," said FMS head coach Bunky Elmore. "I told the girls there are a lot of teams that would be proud to get that second place trophy, Liberty and Summertown included, so we can't be ashamed of what we did, we worked hard and played hard all day long." more
Former Marshall County High School baseball standout Chad Kirby defeated his alma mater for the first time as the head coach of Summit on Monday night, as the Spartans beat the Tigers 4-2 in Spring Hill to hand MCHS their first loss of the season. Having won all four meetings against Summit last year, Marshall County (1-1, 0-1 District) held a 2-1 lead through the first four and a half innings of play, but Summit (1-4, 1-0 District) tallied three runs in the bottom of the fifth to seize a 4-2 advantage before holding the Tigers scoreless over the final two frames. more
The FMS Forrest Rockets (8-2, 7-1) are in mid-season form after sweeping a double header from intra-county foe Cornersville 7-4 in the first game and 9-5 in the nightcap Tuesday in Chapel Hill. "Anytime you get a conference win it's a big win, especially against a cross county rivalry," said FMS head coach Bart Joyce. "Cornersville has a good team with some hitters. We didn't have our best performance, but we managed to get two wins." more

After watching their middle school counterparts rout Bridgeforth earlier in the afternoon, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs recorded a blowout victory of their own on Tuesday night when they crushed District 11-A foe Santa Fe 17-2 in four innings at home in their season opener. The Lady Wildcats actually held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first inning, but things would quickly go downhill for Santa Fe after that point, as the Lady Bulldogs scored 16 runs over the next three innings to cruise to the mercy rule shortened victory. more
The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (4-4) enjoyed their most productive day at the plate this season when they pummeled the Bridgeforth Lady Bobcats 16-2 in five innings at home on Tuesday. Bridgeforth held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning, but it was all Cornersville after that point, as CMS exploded for 16 runs over the next three frames to coast to their fourth win of the year. more
Pitching carried the Cornersville Bulldogs to a win in their season opener on Tuesday night, as they defeated District 11-A foe Santa Fe 1-0 at home to record their 17th straight victory over the Wildcats. With senior pitcher and All-District performer Matt Callender currently nursing an injured shoulder, junior southpaw Jody Sullivan helped to pick up the slack on the mound for the Bulldogs. Sullivan notched seven strikeouts and scattered four hits and three walks in five scoreless innings of work to pick up the win. more
Neither rain, nor wind, nor the cold of night could keep the Marshall County Tigers soccer team from getting the job done on the pitch, as they went on the road and defeated the Zion Christian Academy Eagles 2-1 in their season opener on Monday evening. Despite controlling the action for most of the contest and outshooting the Eagles 25-7 overall, the Tigers were locked in a 1-1 with Zion Christian at halftime. Marshall County then took a 2-1 lead early in the second half on a goal by junior striker Edwin Jaimes before thwarting a handful of scoring attempts by the Eagles over the final 30 minutes to take home the victory. more
The LMS Tigerettes remained undefeated on the season after squeezing out a 3-2 win over Spring Hill at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg Tuesday night. Sydne Solomon has been on fire for LMS this year at the plate and she continued her hot streak against the Lady Generals, going 3-3 with the big blow coming on a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning. more
The Marshall County Tigers baseball team rode the arms of their pitching staff to a win on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Shelbyville Golden Eagles 3-0 on the road in their season opener. MCHS starting pitcher Dylan McKnight and relievers Matt Sharp and Jacob Graves silenced Shelbyville's bats for much of the evening and combined to throw a six-hit shutout. McKnight picked up the win on the mound after giving up three hits and a walk in three scoreless innings of work to go along with three strikeouts. Sharp then came on in relief of McKnight in the top of the fourth and allowed three hits over the next three frames before Graves allowed two walks in the seventh inning. more
Coming off an 8-1 win over Spring Hill the previous evening, the Marshall County Tigerettes cruised to another easy win on Wednesday when they defeated the Columbia Central Lady Lions 17-6 at home in five innings. The Tigerettes got off to a red hot start and raced out to a 12-0 lead through the first two innings of play. Columbia (0-2) then rallied and narrowed the gap to 12-6 in the top of the fifth inning, but Marshall County brought the mercy rule into effect by scoring five runs in the bottom half of the frame to run their record to 2-0. more
The defending District 9-A champion Forrest Lady Rockets opened the new season in style Wednesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, crushing the Community Viqueens 15-4 in a five-inning run-rule win. "I was proud of the fact that everybody got to play today," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. "I thought we hit the ball well and there have been days we struggled with pitching, so I was glad to see everyone get the bat on the ball." more
The Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs are still searching for their first win of the season after losing to the Richland Raiders and the Cascade Champions last Thursday and Friday to fall to 0-6 on the year. CMS dropped a 8-5 road decision to Richland on Thursday before suffering a 15-0 loss at home to Cascade in five innings on Friday night. more
The FMS Rockets took a pair of yellow bus trips to Fayetteville on Friday and Liberty on Saturday and came away with a sweep over their conferences foes to improve to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in Mid-South Conference competition. On Friday, the Rockets took care of business early in Lincoln County, scoring six runs in the top of third inning on their way to a 9-1 win. more
The Marshall County Tigerettes found out they still have to iron out a few wrinkles before the start of the 2013 softball campaign, as they posted an 0-4 record at the Shelbyville Play Day on Saturday afternoon at Musgrave Park. After losing 9-3 to Class A State tournament hopeful Richland in their opening game of the day, the Tigerettes dropped a 5-3 decision to county rival Forrest. more

Cornersville opened the day with an 8-0 win over the Community Viqueens before dropping an 8-2 decision to the Lawrence County Lady Wildcats. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets had a fruitful Saturday at the Shelbyville Eagelette Rumble Play Day, winning their first two games before dropping a pair. Forrest started out with a 6-3 win over Tullahoma in the opening game, scoring four runs in the first inning to take a lead they would never surrender. Savannah Brothers drove home two runs in the frame on a double and Mandi Conley knocked in two more runs on a triple. more
