The Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs (5-1) reeled off their third straight win on Thursday night when they defeated the Richland Raiders 26-6 at home. Despite running only four plays in the first half, the Bulldogs held an 8-0 lead at the break before opening up a 14-0 advantage midway through the third quarter. Richland (3-4) cut the deficit to 14-6 early in the fourth period, but Cornersville dashed the Raiders' comeback hopes by scoring two touchdowns in a span of a 1:40 to pull away for the 20-point victory. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets (5-3) snapped a two-game losing streak on Thursday afternoon by going on the road and defeating county rival Cornersville 7-2. Forrest had a tough time shaking the Lady Bulldogs (6-5-1) early on and were locked in a 2-2 tie with CHS late in the first half prior to notching a goal in the waning moments of the stanza to take a 3-2 lead into the break. more
The LMS Tigers finished the 2013 campaign in style, belting the Bridgeforth Bobcats 50-20 Thursday night at Preston Hopkins Field in Lewisburg. "I told them to empty the bucket tonight and leave with a good feeling," said LMS head coach Elliot Cook. LMS scored on the first three series of the game, beginning with 50-yard touchdown run by Caleb Fields on the third snap from scrimmage. more
The Forrest Rockets celebrated homecoming in a big way Friday, running all over Huntland 42-3 at "The Rock" in Chapel Hill. "It's always good to get that homecoming win," said Forrest head coach Brian Coleman. "We had a good week of practice, we built from that loss last week, and we played hard all night and started quick like we wanted them to." more
Forrest, coming off a disappointing 5-0 shutout loss to Community last week, came out on Tuesday with fire in their eyes versus first place White House-Heritage (WHH), but a late fluke goal spoiled the fun for the Lady Rockets in a 3-2 loss in Chapel Hill. The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs picked up their sixth win of the season on Tuesday afternoon when they claimed a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Wayne County Lady Wildcats at home. Wayne County had defeated CHS 4-0 in their lone meeting last season, but the Lady Bulldogs more than held their own in Tuesday's contest and led 1-0 at the break thanks to a goal by senior striker Jessica Dunn late in the first half. more
Despite turning in a scrappy effort on the pitch, the Marshall County Tigerettes (7-7-1) came up short on the scoreboard on Tuesday, as MCHS dropped a 3-0 decision to a skilled Lincoln County Lady Falcon squad at home on Senior Night. Lincoln County (6-1-1) took control of the game early and built a 2-0 lead in the first half before tacking on another goal midway through the second stanza to claim their sixth victory of the year. more
Hunter Hobby, 17, is a master of archery. He has won 30 competitions this year, and finished fourth in the nation at the Archery Shooters Association Classic in Cullman, Ala. in August. Hobby is a Marshall County High School junior and a starter on the football team and is also a member of the Beta Club. Hobby has been shooting since he was eight years old. He got interested watching his father. more
After defeating East Hickman (6-0) and Culleoka (3-1) the previous week, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs had their modest two-game winning streak snapped on Thursday afternoon when they were thumped 9-1 by a strong Columbia Academy squad, which claimed the top seed in the southern division of the District 11-A standings. Having lost to CA 10-2 in their previous encounter on Sept. 16, the Lady Bulldogs (5-4-1, 4-3-1 District) put up a fight at the start of the game and trailed only 1-0 late in the first half. more
The FMS Rockets were on hard times, losing four straight ballgames before a huge 46-12 win at Moore County Thursday night snapped the skid. "It did feel great to get back on the right track going into our last game versus county rival Cornersville," said FMS head coach Bart Joyce. "We have been hit with the injury bug the past three weeks and that has given several players the opportunity to step up and play and they've done just that." more

Forrest boarded the yellow bus for a short ride to Page Friday night for a Homecoming match-up and spotted the Pats 10 points before storming back to take a fourth quarter lead, only to see a late TD pass by Patriot standout quarterback Zak Mizell spoil the upset bid in a 27-24 loss. "That was a battle and I am very proud of the guys," said Forrest head coach Brian Coleman. The Marshall County Tigerettes (7-6-1) snapped their three-game losing streak on Monday night when they went on the road and whipped the East Hickman Lady Eagles 5-0. Marshall County controlled the contest from start to finish and built a 3-0 lead in the first half before tacking on two more goals in the second stanza en route to recording their fifth shutout of the year. "We're trying to get prepared for our game against Lincoln County tomorrow and for our first round District tournament game against Spring Hill. The Cornersville Bulldogs (3-3) picked up a much needed win on Friday night when they traveled to Columbia and defeated the Zion Christian Academy Eagles 19-6 to snap a two-game losing streak. Cornersville got off to a promising start and grabbed a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter when quarterback Stone Riner hit wide out Tyler Lowery for a 30-yard touchdown strike on CHS' opening drive. The Marshall County Tigerettes fell into second place in the southern division of the District 12-A-AA standings after dropping a 4-0 decision on the pitch to the Giles County Lady Bobcats in Pulaski on Tuesday evening. Giles County (6-4-1, 2-0 District) controlled the match from start to finish and built a 2-0 lead in the first half before scoring two more goals over the final 40 minutes to claim sole possession of first place in the southern division. The Lady Bobcats put heavy pressure on MCHS' net throughout the contest and outshot Marshall County 20-2 overall. Sophomore striker Kate Wallace led Giles County's offensive attack with two goals and an assist, while Kate McComiskey notched a goal and an assist. Addison Gowan also scored a goal for the Lady Bobcats and Carleigh Melvin registered an assist. more
After winning four straight games, the Forrest Lady Rockets were sky-high coming in to Tuesday night's home game versus Community, but an early barrage of Viqueen goals set the tone in a 5-0 loss to the Unionville squad "I think that Community has a great program," said FHS head coach Natalie Dennis. On Monday, the Marshall County Tigers golf team saw their season come to an end when they finished in sixth place at the Region 6-A-AA tournament, which was held at Montgomery Bell State Park. Taking the four best rounds from five players, the Tigers posted a team score of 370 after playing all 18 holes at Montgomery Bell. Junior Brooks Leftwich recorded the ninth best individual score of the tournament and led MCHS with an 80, but narrowly missed earning an at large bid to the State tournament. more
The Middle Tennessee Crusaders (5-2) handed the Marshall County Tigerettes (6-5-1) their second straight loss on Wednesday afternoon when they defeated MCHS 4-0 at Cook Soccer Park in Columbia. Marshall County had narrowly defeated Middle Tennessee 6-5 in their lone meeting last year, but the Crusaders knocked MCHS back on their heels at the start of Wednesday's contest and scored two early goals to build a 2-0 lead in the first half. more
Forrest sophomore Gary Lukonen turned in a solid five-over par round of 77 Monday at the Region 5A/AA Golf Tournament at Champions Run Golf Course in Rockvale, earning a spot in next week's TSSAA Class A/AA State Tournament at Willow Brook Golf Club in Manchester. "Gary has been playing really good the last couple of weeks," said Forrest coach Jeremy Jean. "I think we expected it and he did too and that is why he got it." Lukonen's 77 was the third best score in the boys' event, while the eventual team champion David Lipscomb Academy brothers Dawson (69) and Davis (70) Armstrong came home in the number one and two spots. more
