2013 Record 8-4, District 9A 5-1 (Second Place) Playoffs 1-1 Coaches Head Coach-Matt Kriesky 1st Year Kyle Stacey-Offensive Line Coach/Linebackers Brent Johns-Offensive Coordinator Lance Horton-Defense Backs, Wide Receivers Coach Eli Stephenson-Defensive Line Coach Austin Stacey-Quarterback Coach/Linebackers A lot can change in a year's time, exemplified by the Forrest Rockets' football program that will have their third head coach in three years in former defensive coordinator Matt Kriesky, who was the unanimous choice when Brian Coleman left for Summit. "We don't want to be satisfied making the playoffs, we don't want to be satisfied getting to the second round, our goal is to get to the quarters and the semis and so on," said Kriesky. "You can say that's a lot of pressure, but that is part of the game and everybody's ultimate goal should be to win a state championship. If we are going to sit back here as coaches and a community and say were satisfied with just making the playoffs then we are not good servants to these kids, we are not going to be satisfied with being average, we want to be great around here." more
With several starters returning on both sides of the ball, the Cornersville Bulldogs are hoping to build on a successful 2013 campaign that saw them record the program's first winning record in 19 years and advance to the Class A playoffs. The Bulldogs opened last season by defeating Huntland 25-20 before getting shutout by Moore County 35-0. Although Cornersville beat Richland 26-14 the next week to improve to 2-1, the Bulldogs appeared to suffer a crushing blow in that contest when starting quarterback Jamie Crowell suffered a season ending elbow injury early in the first half, which forced senior wide receiver Stone Riner to assume the quarterback duties for CHS. more
After posting a disappointing 4-7 record last season, the Marshall County Tigers football program is hoping to return to prominence under first-year head coach Thomas Osteen. Having served as an assistant coach at Giles County High School under David O'Connor from 2007-12, Osteen helped the Bobcats achieve a tremendous run of success on the gridiron during that time. Giles County posted an impressive 64-15 record over that period and captured the 2009 Class 4A State title while reaching the semifinals in 2011 and 2012. Although Osteen believes that Marshall County's program has the potential to reach those lofty heights, he believes it will take some time to reach those goals. more

The FMS Rockets played back and forth scoring football for a quarter with Community before staving off the Viking invasion with a stiff defense and a punishing running attack to win their home opener 36-20 Thursday night in Chapel Hill. "We have got to tighten things up, we found some weaker points that we need to work on and we will work on that in practice this week," said FMS head Coach Bart Joyce. "It was a group effort all the way around, our boys stepped it up tonight hitting wise, we just have to put it all together for a game and see what happens." more
Although Marshall County had their way with Lewis County in a three-team scrimmage on Friday night in Lewisburg, the Tigers had their hands full when they faced LaVergne that same evening, as the Wolverines defeated MCHS 28-0 behind a impressive performance from sophomore running back Maleik Gray. With every drive starting at the defense's 40-yard line, each team kept the ball for 10 plays before relinquishing possession. If a team scored a touchdown or turned the ball over before their 10 plays was over, they simply started a new drive at the 40-yard line. more

After an impressive first scrimmage at Richland last week, the Forrest Rockets took the home gridiron at "The Rock" on Friday and after a slow start put them in an early deficit, Forrest outscored Spring Hill's first team 20-0 the rest of the way. To be honest with you, I'm a little disappointed, I thought all summer we were working hard and developing a physical mentality, but give Spring Hill credit, they smashed us in the mouth the first couple series," said Forrest first-year head coach Matt Kriesky. "Our whole off-season, we talked about starting fast and being furious and we didn't do that tonight. We waited two or three series before we decided to play and then we were all right, but we can't do that against Lauderdale County, Cascade, or Moore County because if we do, it will be a long season." more
