The Marshall County Bombers opened up the postseason last weekend at Sam Davis Park at Pulaski and the 15U Babe Ruth All-Stars came up huge, sweeping the District 8 Tournament. After being awarded a forfeit in the first round over Tullahoma on Friday night, the Bombers crushed Lawrenceburg 11-0 on Saturday before coming up with a tough 2-1 win over host Giles County in Sunday's championship game. more

Columbia State Community College hosted the Rogers Group, Inc. 20th Annual J.R. Moon Golf Classic June 9 at the Saddle Creek Golf Club in Lewisburg. "Last year the Annual J.R. Moon Golf Classic raised over $13,000 dollars and we expect the same this year," said Bethany Lay, Columbia State executive for advancement and foundation director. "It was extra special celebrating 20 years of a community coming together to support higher education." more
The Marshall County 6U T-Ball All-Stars recently placed as runner-up in the Cal Ripken District Tournament at Bobby Brewer Field in Lawrenceburg and qualified for the state tournament that will start on July 1 at Columbia when they take on the Admirals from the West Nashville Sports League at 5:30 p.m. more

Hollingsworth finds solace through work with Babe Ruth League s parents, we all know the worst thing that can happen is to lose a child. In May of 1991, that is what happened to Danny Hollingsworth when his 13-year old son Jonathan was killed on a practice field adjacent to the current field that was at the time called Northside Park or Folk Lambert Field. more
The Marshall County Youth Trap Team (MCYTT) travelled to Nashville recently to take part in the 2016 Regional Competition at the Nashville Gun Club and the squad performed admirably. The MCYTT competed in all three disciplines that include skeet, trap and sporting clays. more
After clinching the regular season Babe Ruth League title in the first game of a twin bill Monday night, the Farm Center had nothing to play for but pride and it shined brightly as the Chapel Hill squad blasted Nichirin 16-1 in the three-inning run-rule nightcap. Dustin Brashear had a monster final game for the Farm Center, going 2-for-3 at the plate with six RBI and a pair of homeruns, including a grand slam in an 11-run second inning. more
Back-to-back Babe Ruth titles were on the line for the Farm Center as they needed one win Monday night in a double header with second place Nichirin at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field at Lewisburg. The Chapel Hill squad had little trouble securing the crown and its potent offense shined as they scored in every inning en-route to a 10-1 five-inning, run-rule win. more

he South Central Tennessee Development District (SCTDD), serving 13 Tennessee counties in its mission to advocate and promote economic and community development within the region held its annual four-man scramble golf tournament at Henry Horton State Park on Thursday. The C&S Plastics team of Lewisburg golfers Guy Chambers, Joe Liggett, Terry Wallace and Buddy Wiles scorched the 6,325-yard Buford Ellington tract, shooting a 17-under par round of 55 that tied them with last year's winning team of Danny Davis, Jay Blackwell, Tony Clanton and Sterling Smith. more
The Marshall County Bomb Squad 11U Travel Team played in the USSSA State Tournament on June 11 and 12 at Grassland Park in Franklin, battling through the heat to the championship game where they brought home a silver championship trophy. The Bomb Squad is looking forward to a trip to Biloxi, MS in July. more
The Friends of Henry Horton State Park (FOHH) have been busy bees as usual in its effort to maintain, beautify, restore historic landmarks and make the park more accessible to the public. In order to fund the projects for the organization, the FOHH hosts its annual golf tournament at the Buford Ellington Golf Course inside Henry Horton State Park. more
The Elks had one last chance to put a kink in the Farm Center of Chapel Hill's run to capture back-to-back Marshall County Babe Ruth League titles Tuesday night, but there was no slowing the train down as the defending champs routed the perennial power 19-3 in four innings. The Farm Center (7-1) needs one win to clinch the title Monday in its doubleheader versus second place Nichirin, which stands at 5-3 on the season. more

After losing its first game of the season in the opening game of Monday night's Babe Ruth doubleheader, the Chapel Hill Farm Center had to come back from a two-run deficit to beat Marshall Medical Center 10-8 in the nightcap. Austin Grubbs led off the contest with a double to right field for MMC and scored one out later on a fielder's choice RBI by Caleb Crowell. Caleb McElhaney drilled a single, went to third on a Farm Center error and scored on a balk by Chapel Hill starting pitcher Dustin Brashear. more
Leave it to former Cornersville all-state ace and current Columbia State Community College pitcher David Looney to mess it up for Chapel Hill. Looney, who twice beat Forrest in sub-state games at Chapel Hill in high school, now coaches A-Plus in the Marshall County Babe Ruth League and his squad turned in a gutsy performance Monday night, coming back from a four-run deficit to defeat previously unbeaten Farm Center 8-6. more
