Monday morning was clear and sunny for the ceremony honoring veterans of the armed services on the square in Lewisburg.
Lieutenant Colonel Todd Lowrance, a Marshall County native with 26 years of service in the National Guard, spoke to the assembled crowd of veterans, family members, and supporters of the shared connection that military service builds between those who have “willingly and courageously raised their hand” to serve.
Sponsored by the American Legion in Lewisburg and featuring patriotic songs from Beth McDaniel, the ceremony concluded with lunch at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post, as is traditional.
Marking the time and date of the armistice that ended World War I, Nov. 11 is observed as Veterans Day, honoring all those who have served in the American armed forces.
