The University of Tennessee Extension Marshall County will be offering the Master Dairy Producer Program this spring. The topic of this program is “Tools and Strategies for Improving Milk Quality on Your Farm.” In depth detail will be given to bulk tank issues, monitoring parlor performance using equipment data, monitoring and troubleshooting individual cows via culture and case studies. Additionally, research into using sealants during the dry period for lowering the risk of mastitis will be discussed.
“The Master Dairy Producer Program is an educational program designed to provide information to Tennessee dairy producers to help them be the very best in the country, improve their profitability, and position the industry to be competitive with other states.” The classes are scheduled to be held on March 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. The class will be conducted at the Russell Catering in Lewisburg.
Cost for the class is $25.00 per participant. Participants have to attend two of three modules in order to qualify for 50 percent cost share funds through the Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program. Meal is included.
