Tribune Intern
Jim Ward, Marshall County Tribune general manager, announces additional changes in the news department.
Full Time
Jessica Moore is the newest staff reporter for the Tribune. She graduated from Columbia State Community College in 2010 with her Associate of Science degree, and is an alumna of Marshall County High School. "Writing is something I've always done for fun," Moore says. "I took as many English electives as I could in college, just because I enjoyed them most." She lives in Lewisburg with her family: husband Caleb Moore, 8-year-old stepdaughter Hallie Moore, and 15-month-old son Beckett Moore.
Summer Full Time
Maury Wood is a Tribune summer employee, currently working on the Marshall County Answer Book and writing weekly devotionals for the Tribune's church page. He graduated from Columbia State Community College in 1999 with an Associate of Science degree, and he earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2010. In non-summer months, he is a sixth grade English teacher at Westhills. Wood lives in Cornersville with his family: wife Karen Wood (née McDaniel), 4-year-old son Brighton, and 4-month-old daughter Chloe.
Summer Interns
Rachel Cook is one of the Tribune's summer interns. A Lewisburg native, the daughter of Frank and Rebekah Cook, she transferred from Marshall County High School to Murfreesboro's Central Magnet School after her sophomore year. She recently graduated from Central with Honors and Distinction, and she will attend Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y. this fall. She hopes this practical experience will help her as she pursues an English literature degree.
Kelsey Keny is also a Tribune summer intern. A Lewisburg native, the daughter of Mike and Cheryl Keny, and sister of John Keny, she graduated from Marshall County High School and is now a rising junior at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She majors in journalism and electronic media, and is the executive producer of her campus television station, TVC News. Keny is excited to be a Tribune intern in order to "gain experience in the field of journalism and learn its different aspects." (She's also enjoyed getting to know the resident cats.)
