A former Marshall County High School teacher and coach is facing charges after a police investigation.
Spenser McGuiggan was charged Tuesday with one count of sexual battery by an authority figure and one count of solicitation of a minor.
He posted his $18,000 bond that day.
According to the school system, they were informed on Friday, Sept. 6, that McGuiggan was under investigation by the Lewisburg Police Department and the Department of Children’s Services.
Director of Schools Jacob Sorrells interviewed McGuiggan that morning, suspending him without pay pending the outcome of the investigation. He submitted his resignation later in the day Friday.
The 24-year-old McGuiggin, a Forrest graduate who was hired by the school system in July, 2017, taught biology and coached wrestling at the school.
