The Lewisburg square has recently welcomed its newest business located directly beside the Dixie Theater, The '50s Ice Cream Parlor & Sub Shop.
Norman and Sarah Coutu are the new proud owners of the 50's Ice Cream Parlor & Sub Shop. Although new to Lewisburg, the Coutus are not new to the ice cream parlor business. Ice cream parlors have been in Sarah's family for generations, starting with her great-great-uncle.
The atmosphere is wonderful, playing an array of mostly '50s and '60s era music. As you look around the décor fits the decade perfectly. I imagine it being just what a shop would have looked like in the '50s. It is very inviting and very family friendly and family oriented. The Coutus have eight children and said you will almost always see them there.
The ice cream parlor will be open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.
They have a wide variety of ice cream toppings and are hoping to have up to 40 different flavors. Ice cream isn't the only frozen delight they offer. You can expect to see sherbet, frozen yogurt, and even ice cream with no sugar added.
If cones aren't your style, try one of their malts, shakes, or even floats. They come in a variety of sizes with very reasonable pricing.
Sarah and Norman both agree you won't be able to find a better Banana Split.
All too often we of Lewisburg find ourselves searching for a place to enjoy a nice salad. Well, we finally have that place. The '50s Ice Cream Parlor and Sub Shop, is a place you can go to enjoy ice cream, subs, salads, and many more frozen delights.
