The weather couldn't have been better for Octoberfest last Saturday, and families flocked to the square to see what was on offer.

There was live entertainment throughout the day from a bandstand in front of the Dixie, and included something for everyone. There was a steady crowd at the Lions' food tent. Some of the vendors participating this year included people selling fresh produce and honey. Information was given out at an Autism Awareness tent. There were activities for the children at the 'Fest like the little bouncy house for the toddlers, and plenty of toys.

About 40 children participated in the Marshall County Art Guild's Chalk on the Walk. MCAG is now located on the square, next to Your Wedding Your Way, and is planning a full slate of classes and exhibitions. They reported 20 new members have signed up since they've been on the square.

One vendor was mixing and bottling colored sand, always a crowd favorite. Other items available for sale included jewelry, shirts, blankets, and airbrushed items. There was also a neat craft done by steelwork. These pieces would fit the décor of many homes and even businesses. There were tupperware vendors, fresh canned goods, and fried pies; cookbooks, odds and ends, flowers, and wreaths.

The pancake breakfast had a wonderful turnout, selling hundreds of pancakes. The Lions' pancake breakfast is a beloved tradition for the residents of Lewisburg.

"It was a beautiful, warm fall day. We had a really good pancake breakfast; it was very successful. The crowd was down just a little bit compared to years past, but all in all we had a good Octoberfest," said Lewis Cope of the Lewisburg Lion's Club.
