The Saddle Creek Men's Golf Association wrapped up their season slate with a bang Sunday, hosting a three-man, three-club, one best ball tournament.

Ten teams participated in the wild and wacky event, and in the end, the team of Bill Marsh, Ryan Johnson and Glenn Hardison captured first place, shooting an 11-under par round of 61 on the 6,283-yard tract.

There were a myriad of combinations used in the three-club tournament with players using a 2-iron, 6-iron and 9-iron trio, or a hybrid, 8-iron, wedge combination and three wood, seven iron and a putter.

Many players went off the norm, being creative by using a different club other than a putter to putt their golf ball.

Second place at 8-under par went to the team consisting of David Delk, Mike Tankersley and Anthony Puca.

Coming to the clubhouse in third place, one shot back of captain Tank's team was the threesome of Robby Giles, Jerry Brown and Buddy Tankersley, who putted with his driver.

Reigning Saddle Creek club champion Joe Liggett won low gross honors with an even par 72, while Mike Tankersley and Shelby White tied for second with identical 76s.

The low net winner was David Delk, who shot a smooth 69, Eddie Richmond was second with a 72 and Puca finished third, signing his card for a 73.

Closest to the pin on the par 3 fifth hole went to MGA president Joey Morefield, John Myhr stuck it tight on number seven, Giles had it close on number 12, and Brown tucked one close to the stick on 17.

There was an all-time high 60 members in the MGA this season and Morefield said about the reemergence of the group and its plans for next year, "We would like to grow the MGA even more next year and have 10 to 12 events in place of the seven we had this year."

Morefield added, "I think things went great as a whole. I honestly think it went about as well as we could have ever hoped for. The MGA gives guys a chance to build new relationships and have a good time while supporting one of our local golf courses. It's nice after a long week at work, to hang with your buddies and maybe win a little gift certificate money. It really has been a great year getting things back up and running."
