It was a time of celebration during the Marshall County School Board meeting on May 8.
Many Marshall County students and faculty were recognized for various achievements with a reception, and this was followed by the awarding of certificates and gifts by Director of Marshall County Schools Jacob Sorrells.
Marshall Elementary School employee Lisa Raffo was recognized as Employee of the Month for her hard work and devotion toward her job. Along with her, MES faculty member Carroll Cope was honored with a Lifesaver Award after she successfully performed the Heimlich Maneuver on a choking MES student.
A few 7th grade students who qualified for state recognition in the Duke University Talent Identification Program 7th Grade Talent Search were also honored during the board meeting. Students qualifying for state recognition scored at or above the national average of recent high school graduates on at least one part of the ACT or SAT. From Forest School, Luke Ledbetter and Justina Mosley were honored with awards for their achievements, and from Lewisburg Middle School, Tania Nava-Corona, Carly Edde, Colin Harris, and Ethan Shores were honored with awards.
Seven high school students were also recognized during the meeting. Marshall County High School student Miranda Fagan was presented an award for an outstanding 13-year perfect attendance record. Cornersville High School student Bethann Oberlander, Forrest High School student Danielle Hoeft, and MCHS student Haley Davis were recognized and honored as the salutatorians for their respective high schools, and CHS student Haley Owens, FHS student Holly Batte, and MCHS student Jacob Pomatto-Gilley were also recognized and honored as the valedictorians for their respective high schools.
All students and faculty present were in good spirits as outstanding members of the Marshall County community were celebrated for an array of achievements.
