Fishing use to be a pasttime activity between baseball games for Cody Blackburn, but now the competition is on. Cody, a graduate from Cornersville High School, Motlow State Community College, and now a student at Tennessee Tech University, joined Tennessee Tech University's Bass Fishing Team and traded his DeMarini Bat for a Custom Dixie rod and reel.
Cody and his team members have enjoyed every minute of competition while fishing on Dale Hollow Lake, Lake Guntersville, Chicamauga Lake, and Pickwick. "The muscles in my arms actually ache more after fishing than they did after an intense baseball game," Cody Blackburn said when asked about tournament competition. "You would think that while fishing, you relax and enjoy the scenery, but that is not true. When you are competing for a championship or first or second place, you have to be on your game and stay focused," when asked what competing in a tournament is like.
Cody and team members Jessie Garren and Daniel Holt are ready for the spring semester to start at TTU, but are more excited about upcoming collegiate bass tournaments.
