The Lewisburg Housing Authority hosted their “Back to School Bash” on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the George W. Turner Community Center on Silver Street.
The weather was good and we all had a wonderful time. We distributed approximately 220 book bags with supplies inside and about 78 bean bags.
While the children enjoyed the inflatable houses, the Lewisburg Police Department, Lewisburg Fire Department and Marshall County EMS all took time to talk with the kids.
We added some new activities for them this year. It included free haircuts for the boys, face painting, the girls got their nails polished, we had a photographer there to take instant beautiful memory pictures, we had blood pressure and glucose readings for everyone, and we had clothes donated and given away in various children sizes.
Vouchers were given out for free haircuts and free sport physicals. There was plenty of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.
The day was highlighted with a three legged race, wheelbarrow race, 40 yard dash, the free throw shot and three point shot contest.
Much love goes out to all our supporters that donated supplies, money, volunteered, and those vendors that set up and distributed their gifts to our community. These contributions helped us to make this event a success and we are very humble with your generosity.
