It’s a weekend for horsepower in Marshall County, in whatever form that you prefer.
Three big events cover all aspects of competition, whether that be skill, training, breeding, or raw power.
The Chapel Hill Lions Super Pull of the South roars into the northern part of the county starting tonight.
One of the biggest national events in truck and tractor pulling will be held in Chapel Hill at Lions Motorsports Park. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission prices vary.
For a quieter, more laid back event, the Cornersville Lions Club hosts their 72nd annual horse show at Lions Club Horse Show Grounds in Cornersville.
Thirty four classes, from pleasure horses to Tennessee Walking Horses, will compete for titles beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday.
This year’s judge is Nathan Clark. Admission is $5 or $1 for children 12 and under.
For a different kind of horsemanship, the 2018 Chattahoochee Open Horseback Archery Competition offers something different.
The archery competition is a three-day event, and it will take place at Rising Glory Farm in Lewisburg at 10 a.m. every day. The competition will feature a long cross-country hunt course leading into hay fields and trails with a water crossing, a hit-and-run course, and a 90m barrier course. Admission as a spectator is free.
