Arrested on a warrant for extortion

* Eric Beall, 44, Todd Avenue. Bond; $6,000; court date: Nov. 12.

Thefts and vandalism reported

* An elderly Lewisburg man reported to Marshall County Sheriff's Department a person claiming to be his grandson phoned and said he was in jail in Mexico, and needed money for legal fees and bond. In the course of a week, the victim sent 10 Moneygrams, for a total of $18,382.50 including fees, to people in Texas.

* Between Aug. 15 and Sept. 22, a Red "M" Farmall tractor, a carburetor for the tractor, a 200-gallon fuel tank with electric motor, two harrows, an antique two-horse turning plow, a transmission for a two-ton truck, miscellaneous hand tools, jewelry, and prescription medicine, worth a total of $9,700 were taken from a home and farm on Phillips Road. The house also had a broken window which will cost $150 to replace.

* Between 6 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Sept. 27, a white 1994 Chevy S-10 pickup truck with chrome after-market wheels, a shotgun, a Marlin Model 60 .22 caliber rifle, two saddles, some old quilts, two rings, loose change, and a cordless drill were taken from a home on Old Farmington Road, possibly by a family acquaintance who had been staying there. Total value of the missing items is $6,480.

* The door of a home on Old Belfast Road was kicked open between 5:45 and 10:15 a.m. Sept. 24. It will cost an estimated $600 to repair the broken door frame.

* Between about 8 and 11 a.m. Sept. 26, someone forced their way into a home on Delina Road and took prescription medication and a pair of Nike running shoes. The missing items are worth $65, but the front door will cost an estimated $200 to repair.

* Between Sept. 23 and 26 a lawnmower battery, a yellow kerosene tank, a chain saw, two propane tanks, a set of Craftsman torque bars, and a set of Craftsman calibration wrenches were stolen from a home on Wilson School Road. Total value of the missing items is $255.

* A Lewisburg man reported to police someone used his CB&S Bank account number to pay two bills to AT&T for a total of $164.33. The case was turned over to detectives for further investigation.

* Soon after midnight Sept. 24, two garbage cans and a mailbox at a home on Murrey Street were knocked over by a passing car. The mailbox will cost an estimated $100 to replace.

Zamora--Cruz admitted to Lewisburg Police Officer Mike Davis she has been commuting to work in Lewisburg from Shelbyville for two years without ever having a driver's license.
