SHELBYVILLE -- Guilty verdicts were returned Wednesday against the woman who shot and killed a Lewisburg woman's brother who recently moved from Marshall to Bedford County to be closer to his job.

Ashley Mai Cook was found guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder in the 2007 Valentine's Day shooting of Shelbyville car salesman Bill Ross. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 17.

"Justice was served," the victim's sister, Tammy Ross, said after Judge Robert Crigler read the verdict.

Cook has family in Williamson County, according to testimony during a bond hearing last year. She had been staying in Lewisburg and then near Shelbyville in early 2007 after Ross moved there.

Closing arguments in the three-day trial took most of Wednesday morning while the jury deliberated for less than an hour during lunch. Cook was on trial in July when the jury deadlocked and a mistrial was declared.
