The Kingsport Police Department and the City of Kingsport hosted the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police for their 43rd Annual Conference in July. Lewisburg Police Chief Chuck Forbis was named TACP's 1st vice president for the 2013-2014 year at the annual awards banquet. Tennessee State Senator Becky Massey joined the Deputy Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Larry Godwin, and chief law enforcement officials from across the state, as Forbis accepted the challenge to serve as a leader on the board of the state's premier professional law enforcement organization.
Forbis previously served as 2nd vice president and as a district director for the TACP. He will be instrumental in carrying out TACP's mission to provide law enforcement agencies the opportunity to fulfill professional training, ethical leadership, management development and legislative representation; while promoting cooperation, communication, and the exchange of information to better serve the members of the TACP. He will also represent the association in absence of the TACP president in meeting with the governor and other state and federal officials. He is slated to serve as TACP President in 2014-15.
The Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police was founded in 1970 as a professional organization that is dedicated to the highest ideals of honor, leadership, and integrity to maintain the respect and confidence of their government officials, subordinates, the public, and their fellow members of law enforcement. The association works together to shape policy and provide executive level training to agencies statewide.
