Chapel Hill: Get ready for ice cream, tractor pull

Between these pop-up thunderstorms and dangerously high temperatures, it's hard to plan anything. But...

Are you ready for some ice cream? Lucky for you, the 114th Annual Ice Cream Supper at the Flat Creek Community Center in Williamson County is Saturday, July 16, beginning at 4 p.m. You can get hamburgers, hot dogs and the best fried country ham sandwich in town. And don't forget the home-made ice cream and desserts. So enjoy your meal - bring your lawn chair, kick back and relax for the afternoon so you'll be ready for the auction at 6 p.m. You'll probably have so much fun you'll barely notice the heat. I take that back - you will notice the heat, but with all the good food and fellowship, maybe it won't feel so hot.

Next weekend, July 22 and 23, will see lots of tractors and lots of people in Chapel Hill for the 35th annual Chapel Hill Lions SuperPull of the South. This is the biggest event for the Lions Club and Chapel Hill, too. Those tractors make some serious noise so if you can hear them at your house, you might as well come and see what the noise is all about. If you can't hear the tractors, you still need to come. The Chapel Hill Lions Club tractor pull committee has been working and planning since the tractor pull last year. Remember all the proceeds from this event go right back to our city and community. Let's just hope and pray for cooler temperatures. If it's as hot then as it is now, I don't think anyone would complain about some rain.

Have a wonderful week and stay cool.
