The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce fed 215 people during their annual Business
Meeting and Dinner Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' & Exhibitors' Association.
Chamber President, Vicki Cain, recognized elected officials present including State Representative Rick Tillis, and State Senator Jim Tracy who espoused the strong financial health of the state, and unemployment falling to four percent. Marshall County needs to keep working on education in order to maintain a qualified workforce, Tracy added.
A very special presentation was awarded to Chamber staff member, Sue Hill, for her 15 years of employment with the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce. Sue retired from Bank of America then started working part-time for the Chamber of Commerce serving as Office Manager.
Vicki Cain, Chamber president, gave an overview of the 2016 Chamber Year and a few of the 2017 projects planned. Along with the new website, the chamber added 30 new members over the past year and a new membership directory is planned. Rusted Magnolia Marketplace at Jubilee Hills and Industrial Appreciation Day were successful events for the year and the chamber expects to add other special events in 2017. The chamber is also in the process of developing a tourism brochure for the county, in partership with the city of Lewisburg and the Joint Economic and Community Development Board.
The Chamber continues to host Leadership Marshall under the direction of Lynda Potts. The Chamber also recognized the two members who renewed as Deluxe Level Members: United Communications and Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home and Crematory.
The two new board members nominated by the membership were recognized: Jared McCullough, who is a Loan Officer at First Commerce Bank; and Race Wilson, Assistant Branch Manager at First Farmers and Merchants Bank.
