Celebrating 50
On July 30, 2016, James and Faye Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
More than a half century ago, James Smith went to Doug Burgess' house on Jack Pickle Road in Bedford County to buy a colt. He came back with a date with Burgess' daughter, Faye, instead.
We would like everyone's well wishes on this tremendous milestone. We celebrated the anniversary by having a small reception at the Chapel Hill Church of Christ. James, Faye, family and friends enjoyed cake and ice cream from Bakin Cakes while reminiscing about stories from the past.
James has been in the U.S. Army, a race car driver, a dirt bike rider, a painter, a preacher, employed with ICP, and an employee of the sheriff's Department. Faye has been a barrel racer, race car driver, paper deliverer, employed at Eaton and Kantus, a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and mother-in-law. She has never met a stranger.
