The Marshall County Tigerettes eked out an ugly 38-34 win Tuesday night at Columbia Central and they’ll take it as they extended their winning streak to six games over the Lady Lions in the decades old rivalry between the two neighboring county schools. “It was an ugly win, we gotta do better, and I gotta do better,” MCHS coach David Steely said. “We turned the ball over too much, that is our number one issue right now and we have to take care of it better.” “If we don’t turn the ball over we probably pull away and are up by 15 early, but we didn’t do that.” more
The Forrest Lady Rockets continued their torrid start this season as they made the short trek to Eagleville Friday night and came away with an easy 66-39 win for their sixth victory in a row. “We came out of the gate swinging tonight, any time your post player hits two threes in row, you know you’re going to have a good night offensively,” Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. “They came out at us and kept it close for a while, but we kept the game at the pace we wanted to play.” more

The Forrest Rockets were stuck in a four-game losing streak and the recipe for busting out was not a good one as they headed to Eagleville Friday night where they got blown out 74-42. Eagleville is coming off a 31-5 season in 2018-2019, losing in the state semifinals to the eventual Class A state champion Columbia Academy Bulldogs. “We can't afford to get down to a team that has three returning starters from a Final Four run last year,” first-year Forrest coach Corey Bishop said. “However, I thought in the second half we matched them play for play and outscored them.” “We could've easily let the game get away big time, but we continued to fight it out.” more
