Forrest’s Laura Mealer has so much athletic talent it’s ridiculous and the Chapel Hill senior is currently proving herself to be one of the best players in District 12-AA and Mid-State basketball. As good as she is on the hardwood, Mealer is even better on the softball diamond as a cover it all defender and a dominating force at the plate. more

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (0-13, 0-5) welcomed District 8-A foe Huntland in the opening game of Tuesday night’s doubleheader at the Cornersville gymnasium. The Lady Hornets, with their senior laden squad and a suffocating full-court press, easily defeated the Lady Dawgs 79-31 for their fifth win in a row. Marshall County High School senior Abby Self has left her mark on the bowling program in Lewisburg, qualifying for the Division I Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) State Bowling Championships for the second year in a row. The Marshall County Tigers entertained Murfreesboro Central Magnet School (MCM) at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Friday night’s homecoming contest, looking to extend their winning streak to seven games. The Tigers had little trouble in the District 12AA contest, easily beating their namesakes 49-34 to move to 10-4 on the season and undefeated at 4-0 in league play. more

The Forrest Rockets just missed breaking their losing streak in a close 45-44 loss to Murfreesboro Central Magnet School in the District 12-AA opener on Tuesday, January 12 before hosting Community Friday night. The Rockets came out firing on all cylinders versus the Vikings, flying out to a 13-0 lead behind six points by Walker Herring in the low post, a 3-pointer from CJ Sanchez, and a rebound and put-back by Brennan Mealer. more

The Marshall County Tigers travelled to Chapel Hill Tuesday night for an early big District 12-AA contest with MCHS coming in riding a five-game winning streak while the Rockets entered the intra-county rivalry game stuck in an eight-game losing skid.
