The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldog turned in a spirited effort in their first game under new coach Peyton Newton, but came up short on the scoreboard, as they dropped a hard fought 30-26 decision to the Bridgeforth Lady Bobcats on Tuesday night in Pulaski.
Having defeated CMS handily twice last season, the Lady Bobcats appeared headed for another easy victory on Tuesday after building a 20-6 lead early in the third quarter.

On Tuesday night, the Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs were unable to overcome a poor shooting performance, as they suffered a 21-11 road loss to the Bridgeforth Bobcats in their season opener.
After scoring just five points against Bridgeforth the last time they ventured down to Pulaski a year ago, Cornersville once again saw their offense go ice cold on Tuesday and trailed 11-0 at the end of the first half.

The FMS Lady Rockets displayed some early season resiliency, coming back from a lopsided defeat at Moore County on Monday to put the clamps on Westwood 33-16 Tuesday night in their home opener in Chapel Hill.
"I am proud of the girls, they battled and fought hard tonight," said FMS head coach Rhea Webb. "We told them today's a new day, tonight's a new game and they did not let last night affect them and they came out ready to play tonight."

The FMS Rockets made it three wins in row to continue their early season hot streak, holding off a late Westwood comeback to win 33-26 in Tuesday night's home opener.
"A win always feels good, rather in a row or not, but this has been a nice run and the boys seem to be enjoying it," said FMS head coach Randy Toombs.
Forrest also seems to enjoy starting from behind as Westwood led 10-5 after the first quarter before the hometown Rockets turned the table on their namesakes, outscoring the Manchester squad 13-2 in the second period.

The Forrest Rockets had the tough task of taking on a talented E.O. Coffman squad to begin the season Friday night in Lawrenceburg and the host Panthers pounced on the visitors for an easy 54-21 win.
E.O. Coffman jumped out to an insurmountable 17-0 lead to begin the contest before Dylan Wyatt finally got the Rockets in the scoring column with one minute to go in the first period.

The FMS Lady Rockets tipped-off the 2013 basketball season on Friday, taking to the hardwood at E.O. Coffman in Lawrenceburg against the host Lady Panthers, who won the season opener 34-16.
Forrest looked a little rusty in their first game, shooting a measly 22 percent from the field in an 8-36 effort.
The Lady Rockets were also shutout at the free throw line and three-point land, going 0-3 from the charity stripe and 0-7 from downtown.

After falling to tourney host E.O. Coffman the previous night, the Forrest Rockets (1-2) salvaged a third place finish in the Coffman Tip-Off Tournament by defeating the Ethridge Bulldogs 40-35 in the consolation finals on Saturday afternoon.
Forrest held a 21-19 lead at the end of the first half before opening up a 34-25 advantage early in the fourth quarter. Ethridge (1-2) then rallied to tie the game at 35-35 in the waning moments of the contest, but the Rockets outscored the Bulldogs 5-0 over the final :17 thanks to some clutch free throw shooting from Ty Hengesback and Dylan Jones to claim their first win of the season.

he Forrest Middle School Lady Rockets picked up their first win of the young season on Saturday afternoon when they defeated the New Prospect Lady Tigers 22-16 in the consolation finals of the Coffman Tip-off Tournament at E.O. Coffman Middle School.
Forrest (1-1) held the upper hand throughout the contest and built an 11-6 lead in the first half before opening up a 18-8 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

Christ Presbyterian Academy proved to be as good as advertised, as the undefeated Lions whipped the Marshall County Tigers 45-16 at Preston Hopkins Field on Friday night to hand MCHS their third straight loss.
Ranked number one in the Class 3A AP poll, the Lions (9-0, 4-0 District) moved in for the kill early and scored touchdowns on their first four possessions en route to building a 31-0 halftime lead. CPA then opened up a 38-0 advantage at the end of the third quarter before coasting to the 29-point victory.

On Monday night, the Marshall County Tigerettes saw their season come to an end when they were defeated 8-2 at home by a strong Spring Hill Lady Raider squad in the first round of the District 12-A-AA tournament.
MCHS had played Spring Hill (8-4) tough in their lone regular season meeting before eventually dropping a 3-1 decision to the Lady Raiders.
Spring Hill, however, quickly dashed the Tigerettes' upset hopes in Monday's contest and built a 5-1 lead in the first half prior to outscoring the Tigerettes 3-1 in the second stanza.

Due to some key injuries, Forrest had just twelve players available for their first round District 9A-AA Tournament game versus Harpeth Monday night and the Lady Indians took advantage of the Lady Rockets' lack of depth in a 4-0 win.
Harpeth shuffled players in and out during the contest, trying to wear down the Chapel Hill girls in the season ending loss for Forrest, who finished the campaign with a 4-4 record.
The Lady Rockets almost got on the board in the first minute of action on the pitch at Kingston Springs Elementary School when the Harpeth keeper batted a Sarah Blasingim blast away at the last second.

On Thursday night, the Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs capped a stellar season on the gridiron by defeating county rival Forrest 24-14 on Homecoming to finish the 2013 campaign with a 6-1 record.
The Rockets (4-5) gave Cornersville fits early on and held a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Bulldogs eventually righted the ship and scored touchdowns on two straight possessions to take a 16-6 advantage into the break.

The Forrest Rockets invaded Unionville Friday night, destroying the Community Vikings 42-0 for their second consecutive blowout win, continuing the march towards the post-season that commences on Nov. 8.
"These are all important region games and the boys came out tonight and took care of business," said Forrest head coach Brian Coleman. "I thought we had a good week of practice and it showed on the field in the intensity the team played with tonight."

Senior quarterback Stone Riner made sure that Cornersville football fans had a happy Homecoming, as he accounted for all four CHS touchdowns to help lead the Bulldogs to a hard fought 27-21 win over the McEwen Warriors on Friday night.
Cornersville (4-4) came flying out of the gates and held a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Warriors (1-6) came storming back and narrowed the gap to 14-13 at halftime prior to tying the game at 21-21 midway through the third period.

The Marshall County Tigerettes soccer team entered the playoffs on a positive note after defeating the Middle Tennessee Crusaders 3-1 at home on Tuesday afternoon in their regular season finale.
Middle Tennessee had defeated MCHS 4-0 in their previous encounter on Sept. 25, but the Tigerettes (8-7-1) played with a greater sense of urgency on Tuesday and held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half before outscoring the Crusaders 2-1 in the second stanza to claim the two-goal victory.

With tough games against Christ Presbyterian Academy and Giles County still left on the docket, the Marshall County Tigers' playoff picture became a bit cloudier on Friday night after MCHS suffered a disheartening 41-34 road loss to District 12-AA newcomer Cascade that saw them squander a 13-point third quarter lead.
Marshall County (3-4, 2-1 District) moved the ball with ease through the first two quarters of play and held a 28-21 lead at halftime before opening up a 34-21 advantage early in the third period.

The Cornersville Bulldogs put a scare into District 11-A leader Columbia Academy on Friday night, but couldn't keep pace with the Maury County private school down the stretch, as they lost 55-31 to CA on the road after holding a five-point halftime lead.
Although Columbia Academy (6-0, 3-0 District) had won the last three meetings between the two teams and came into Friday's contest ranked sixth in the Class A AP poll, Cornersville had CA on the ropes early on and built a 19-14 lead in the first half.
