The Forrest Rockets notched their second straight win on Tuesday night by going on the road and defeating county rival Cornersville 49-29.
Forrest (2-2) had trouble shaking the Bulldogs (0-3) in the first half and held just a 23-20 lead late in the second quarter.
The Rockets then began to distance themselves from CHS after that point and closed the first half with a 7-1 run to open up a 30-21 lead at the break before outscoring Cornersville 19-8 over the final two quarters to pull away for the 20-point win.

The two teams split the season series last year, but the Lady Bulldogs disposed of Cornersville (2-1) in surprisingly easy fashion this time around and forged a 43-12 lead in the first half before outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 15-13 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 33-point win.

After making a surprisingly early exit from the playoffs last season, the Marshall County Tigers are out to prove that postseason disappointment was an aberration.
Marshall County finished third in the District 12-AA standings during the regular season, but were knocked out of the District tournament in the first round when they dropped a 57-47 decision to sixth seeded Summit. It marked the first time in seven years that the Tigers had failed to advance to the Region tournament despite posting a respectable 15-12 record.

While the Marshall County Tigerettes have just one upperclassman on their roster this season due to graduation and defections, fourth-year coach David Junkins is hoping some younger players will be able to fill the breach.
Last season, the Tigerettes finished third in the District 12-AA standings, but had a brief stay in the playoffs after dropping a heartbreaking 41-40 decision to sixth seeded Summit in the first round of the conference tournament.
After losing three starters from last year's squad, including leading scorer Marissa Lyttle, guards Allison Hargrove (Sr.) and Kiya Morris (Soph.) will have to shoulder a greater offensive load this season.

The LMS Tigerettes were in catfight for a half versus E.A. Cox before pulling away in a big second half to win 25-13.
The Tigerettes won the game on the defensive end of the floor with plain evidence coming from an incredible 16 steals in the contest, as the Lady Cougars were never able to run their offense.
"I think our team defense was the key to the game," said LMS head coach Chris Coleman. "Our defensive pressure resulted in some easy scoring opportunities and that was important because we didn't make much from the outside."
Leah Hollingsworth set the tone early, swiping the rock four times in the first quarter, while scoring all four of the Tigerettes' points in a low-scoring stanza that had LMS in front 4-2.

The Forrest Rockets travelled to Columbia Academy Tuesday night for a Hall of Fame kickoff game and got off to a slow start before trying to play catch-up, but could not get over the hump and lost 56-39.
"I thought we played hard, we didn't quit, and even though we got down early we didn't lose our focus and we battled," said FHS head coach Wes Hobbs. "They had a couple of players that present huge matchup problems and I thought our guys did a nice job of making some adjustments during the game and executed a good portion of our game plan."
