The Marshall County Tigers finished in third place at the Region 6A-AA Tournament at Montgomery Bell on Monday, two shots behind second place Stewart County and 38 shots behind defending champion CPA.
"I was happy with the team performance. We were only five strokes worse than district, but Montgomery Bell is a much more difficult course," MCHS coach Alex Phelps said. "I would have loved for one of my other three guys to shoot just a couple strokes better and us finish second, but those are my young guys and it was a great experience for them."

Under the new Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association's playoff system, 32 teams from each football classification will make up the field that will begin post-season play on November 6.
The Forrest Rockets (6-1, 4-0) are in the drivers seat in Region 4-AA, holding down first place and can clinch the top spot with wins in two of its last three games.

The Forrest Middle School Rockets are living proof as they exorcised last year's disappointing 14-12 loss to Community in the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament game that ruined an undefeated season.
FMS would not budge this time versus Liberty, staving off every Patriot comeback attempt with the resiliency of champions that resulted in a hard fought 24-14 DRVC title game win, capping off a perfect 9-0 season.

The Cornersville Bulldogs were hoping to get out of the doghouse Friday at Huntland, but the Hornets spoiled the effort with a 47-21 win.
"Going into the Huntland game everyone in our program knew it would be a tall task for our club. I think Huntland did a very good job of changing up there scheme for us," said Cornersville coach Gerard Randolph "From previous films they had not passed the ball much at all, and Friday night they really hurt us with their passing game." Cornersville fell behind early as Huntland scored two first quarter touchdowns before tacking on 21 more points in the second quarter.

The Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs took on a familiar foe Thursday night when the Richland Raiders came to town on Homecoming night, looking to give the Bulldogs two losses in a season for the first time in over three years.
Despite a quick start by the Raiders after recovering an onside kick to start the game and an ensuing touchdown, the Bulldogs settled down to ended their season on a high note with a 43-8 victory on a cold and stormy night in southern Marshall County.

By game time, the rain was coming down sideways at Murrey E. Holton Field at Chapel Hill, but it didn't faze the FMS Rockets, who stayed focused on finishing out an undefeated regular season.
Forrest started fast and never let up and Middle Tennessee Christian School never knew what hit them as the Rockets blistered the Cougars 52-2.

The Marshall County Tigers stepped back into region play traveling to Lawrenceburg to take on the Lawrence County Wildcats after a grueling, physical win against Stratford the previous week earning Marshall County 5th place ranking in the most recent 4A statewide Associated Press poll.
The Tigers (6-1, 3-0) jumped on the Wildcats (2-5,1-2) early and never let up in a business like 48-7 win that clinched a spot on the Class 4-A state playoffs for the sixth consecutive year.

The Tigerettes traveled to Spring Hill on Monday for their regular season finale in a preview against the same team it will meet in the 1st round of the District 12-A/AA Tournament on Thursday night.
Marshall County (12-3, 3-2) played almost evenly throughout the match before giving up three late goals to fall to the Raiders (6-5, 3-3) 4-0 dropping two games in a row for the first time all season.

Forrest traveled to Watertown Friday night with its goal of winning the region title squarely in front of them and after trailing early, the Rockets stormed back for a 30-20 win over the Purple Tigers.
With the win, Forrest (6-1, 4-0) moved one game in front of Watertown (5-2, 4-1) in the Region 4-AA standings with three league games left to play.

Dani Hoeft and Micah Toombs represented Forrest at the Region 5A-AA tournament yesterday after the Lady Rockets' duo earned a pair of individual qualifying spots at the District 9A-AA Tournament on Monday.
Hoeft shot 98 and Toombs carded a 110 for 18 holes at the 5,442 yard Champions Run Golf Course in Rockvale.
Host Eagleville won the district title, shooting a team score 194.

The Marshall County Tigers continued their postseason success on Monday at the Lawrenceburg Golf & Country Club, finishing in second place behind powerhouse Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) at the District 12A-AA golf tournament.
CPA successfully defended its district title for the second straight season, shooting a masterful four-man, 4-over-par aggregate score of 288.

The Marshall County Tigerettes traveled to Unionville for its second away match in consecutive nights (Cannon County on Monday) and were looking to avenge a preseason loss to the Viqueens in front of a rowdy home crowd on a dreary night in Bedford County.
Despite a valiant effort to overcome an early 2-0 lead by the Viqueens (4-3-4) the Tigerettes (12-2, 3-1) could not muster the strength to finish the comeback losing 2-1 for only the second time this season.

Cornersville Middle School returned home to Frog Bottom looking to bounce back from a loss to South Lincoln that snapped a 16-game winning streak against a South Giles squad it had beaten soundly in Pulaski just three weeks prior.
The Bulldogs will now embark on a new win streak after pummeling the Eagles 30-6 in a game that saw the home team score 30 straight points in the first half before cycling in the reserves.

Cornersville started the girls soccer season 1-4-1 with a roster full of underclassmen before hitting its stride by winning four of five including a three-game winning streak entering Thursday's game against D-II private school Zion Christian Academy.
The Lady Bulldogs (6-5-1) pushed that run to four by breaking a 1-1 tie late in the game on an Anna Claire Foster shot to stun the Eagles 2-1.
