Two of middle Tennessee's finest gridiron programs met on the hardwood Thursday night in West Nashville with Pearl-Cohn winning the hoop battle 74-47 in a game that was closer than the final score indicated. "We should have tried to slow them down more," shooting guard Malek Sain stated. "They could jump and get off the floor and we weren't rebounding. They were just way more athletic than we were. They were just hitting a bunch of their shots." more
The second-seeded FMS Lady Rockets faced an inspired Cascade squad in Monday night's second round of the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament and the Lady Champions gave the Chapel Hill girls all they had before Forrest pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 34-26 win. "My father always said 'an ugly win is still a win' and I am going to give Cascade all the credit, they made us play that way," FMS coach David Junkins said. "It is good to survive, Cascade brought it tonight." more
The Forrest Rockets dominated the Region 4AA football awards banquet, landing nine players on the All-Region Team, plus Head Coach and Staff of the Year and Jackie Abernathy won Director of Schools Award. "It was an honor to have nine players make the All-Region Team and each one of them deserves it," said Forrest head coach Matt Kriesky, who along with Kyle Stacey, Brent Johns, Lance Horton and Eli Stephenson made up the coaching staff that guided the Rockets (10-2) to an undefeated league record, Region 4AA title and a second-round playoff berth. more

Forrest desperately wanted a win and it was in their hands all night versus MTCS Tuesday at Chapel Hill, but it did not come to fruition for the Rockets, who fell 56-54 in overtime. Forrest led at the end of each of the first three quarters and increased its lead to the largest of the night in the fourth quarter until collapsing to let the Cougars tie the game and send it into overtime where they prevailed. more
Tuesday night in Lewisburg saw two of the most storied girls programs in Middle Tennessee mix it up on the Dottie Kelso memorial Gymnasium hardwood with Shelbyville Central taking down Marshall County 68-39. The Central Golden Eagles (3-4) have 12 state championships, six state runner-up finishes, and have produced six Miss Basketballs, while the Tigerettes (0-5) have taken home four gold balls, one runner-up finish, and one Miss Basketball. more

Shelbyville Central ran into a Marshall County team looking to prove to themselves that they were better than the team that lost big to Chattanooga Brainerd on Saturday and the Tigers proved that Saturday was a fluke, beating the 3A Golden Eagles 61-51. "I think we gave a little better effort, the kids tried tonight I felt like," MCHS coach Arnett Bodenhamer said. "We didn't capitalize on what we were trying to do. We've got to drive the ball more and we've got to be more aggressive on the glass." more
The Forrest Middle School girls capped off a big regular season Thursday night at Chapel Hill, beating Huntland 48-38. "We wanted to finish the season as best as we could and I think we finished pretty strong tonight," FMS coach David Junkins said. "We have come a long way from that first game, the regular season has been highly successful and we hope to carry that into the post-season. Our long term goal has always been to bring the "Duck" back to Chapel Hill." more

The girls game went back and forth and the Lady Bulldogs used an extra period to finish off Bridgeforth 29-28 as Carly Salsman hit two free throws with one second on the clock to end a thriller in Cornersville. more
The Marshall County Tigers traveled to Nashville on Saturday to take on perennial power Chattanooga Brainerd in the first game of the East Nashville play day. The Panthers started the game running and ran all the way until the end, pushing the lead to 30 points before the Tigers were able to trim the lead to the 81-60 final. more
The LMS Tigers faced a tall, athletic South Lincoln squad that forced the home team into a face paced game in which it was not able to keep up, falling 46-35 Thursday at Lewisburg. The Tigers were led by Canelius Turner, who scorched the Eagles for 23 of his team's 35 points. more
The LMS Tigerettes returned on home on Thursday, coming off only its second loss of the year against Meridianville, Alabama to take on South Lincoln from Fayetteville. The Tigerettes (8-2) led the entire game before the Eagles clawed their way back for a 30-30 tie two minutes into the final quarter. A Karlye Wiser 3-pointer sparked the Tigerettes to a 15-5 run to end the game, resulting in a 45-35 win. more
The Forrest wrestling team traveled to Harpeth on Saturday for a huge early season meet and the Rockets made a big splash, finishing in third place amongst 16 teams. The Rockets were the only Class A school in the top five, finishing two points behind 3A Clarksville Northeast and way behind 3A Wilson Central, who ran away with first place. more
The Forrest Rockets hosted Fayetteville in Friday night's league opener and the defending District 9A champions picked up right where they left off as the Tigers started slow before turning on the second half jets in a 68-52 win at Chapel Hill. "It's a shame, we just didn't match baskets and if you don't match them, you are in trouble," Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. "We doubled their turnovers, so I think this all fixable and I am not waylaying on them. I want to keep their spirts up." more
The Forrest wrestling team hosted Shelbyville Thursday night at Chapel Hill and the match turned into a spirited affair as the Golden Eagles gave the Rockets all they wanted before a late comeback spurred the home team to a 48-34 win. "That was the type of atmosphere we hope we would have every night." Forrest coach Kyle Stacey said. "We had a great student body participation and got everybody fired up." more
The 2015-2016 football season was one of improvement, success, and achievement for the Marshall County Tigers under the tutelage of second-year head coach Thomas Osteen. The Tigers ended the regular season with a 9-1 record and completed a perfect region schedule, earning the program its first outright Region Championship in 13 years. more
