The Marshall County (1-11, 0-1) Tigerettes came out of the Above the Rim Invitational with a little more confidence than earlier in the season, having finally gotten rid of the monkey on its back with the first win of the year over Hickman County. Christ Presbyterian Academy (10-4, 0-1), one of the premier girls teams in Middle Tennessee came away with the 72-37 victory over the Tigerettes on Tuesday night at Lewisburg, but there were enough bright spots in the game for the Marshall County faithful to have hope that the girls squad might still make some noise in district play. more
The Forrest Rocket wrestling team returned to the mats after the holiday break and came away with a road sweep over Eagleville and Greenbrier Tuesday. The Rockets opened the tri-meet at Greenbrier with a 64-18 win over Eagleville, which has a history of not showing its hand too much until late in the season. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets, coming off four straight wins continued their topsy-turvy season with a 59-50 loss at home to Summertown Tuesday night. "I think we played with little energy and focus," Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. "Summertown played with energy and was more focused than us." more
Victory eluded the Cornersville Bulldogs (0-10, 0-5) once again, as they suffered a 50-40-road loss to the Culleoka Warriors (4-8, 2-3) on Tuesday night. The young Bulldogs appeared they might break through for their first win of the season after grabbing a 27-24 lead late in the third quarter. Cornersville, however, was unable to hold off Culleoka during crunch time, as the Warriors outscored the Bulldogs 26-13 over the final 9:25 to escape with the 10-point victory. more
Junior point guard Madison Hopkins helped Cornersville (4-9, 3-2) continue their long winning streak against Culleoka on Tuesday night when she poured in a career high 24 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 65-48 road victory over the Lady Warriors (3-8, 1-4). Cornersville held just a 39-35 lead through the first three quarters of play, but pulled away down the stretch by outscoring Culleoka 26-13 in the fourth quarter to claim their 27th straight win over the Lady Warriors. more
Victory breaks 13-game losing streak Forrest proved to be a different team than the one that lost by 32 points at Summertown on December 15 as the Rockets played inspired from the opening tip to come away with a 59-48 win at Chapel Hill Tuesday night. "You only want the ones around you that really care enough to persevere through the any kind of toughness," Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. "If your doing the right thing, good things will come to you sooner or later, so I am very proud of the guys." more

Defense once again carried the day for the Forrest Lady Rockets (9-7), as they defeated former district rival Cascade 63-38 on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the Eagleville Christmas Classic to notch their third straight victory over the Lady Champions (0-11). The Lady Rockets held a 24-15 lead at the break before pulling away in the second half by outscoring Cascade 39-22 over the final two quarters to extend their current winning streak to three games. more
Forrest (1-14) once again proved to be no match for an undefeated Cascade squad, as the Champions whipped the Rockets 79-45 on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 29, at the Eagleville Christmas Classic to run their record to 11-0. Having defeated FHS 81-38 in their previous encounter on Nov. 25, the Champions put on another offensive clinic on Tuesday and built a 53-19 lead through the first two quarters of play before coasting to the 34-point victory. Bolstered by a 19-of-27 shooting performance in the first half, Cascade shot a blistering 56 percent (29-of-52) from the field overall, which included a 5-of-13 effort from 3-point range. more
The Cornersville fans that have stuck with the boy's team throughout the winless early season might have noticed a change lately in the team's effort and ability to stay with its opponents beyond the first half of the games. After losing a close game to Zion Christian Academy and playing Community neck and neck deep into the second half on Monday at the Richland Christmas Tournament it took the Clifton Lions (6-5) full effort to put away the Bulldogs 74-63 late in the game. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs wrapped up a two day stint at the Richland Christmas Tournament on a down note, losing to Pickett County 95-50. The fourth ranked Bobcats (15-1) came into the contest fresh off a 73-point win over Culleoka the previous night in the midst of an 11-game winning streak and Cornersville (3-9) proved to be little competition for the 1A powerhouse. "I love the group we have, when we want to play, we really play," Cornersville coach Peyton Newton said. "But you can tell that group has played together for a long time. I know they have a really good youth league and it shows. As well as that team plays together, they do all the little things right." more
The Marshall County Tigerettes finally got that much needed win at The Above the Rim Christmas Invitational Tournament in Hickman County, taking out their season-long frustrations on a helpless Hickman County squad via a 55-20 victory. The led the Tigerettes for a fight for a fifth place finish on Wednesday against a Perry County team that beat BGA the previous day. more
After a short Christmas break, the Forrest hoopsters made the long trek to Collinwood Monday and came away with a split as the Lady Rockets (10-7, 1-3) beat the Trojanettes easily 57-30 before the Rockets (1-15, 0-4) fell 74-68 in the nightcap. The Lady Rockets picked up their fourth win in a row as they held a 29-13 lead at the half, bolstered by 15 points from Caitlyn Yost, who led all scorers in the contest with 22 points. more
USA TODAY High School Sports is proud to announce the 2015 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Tennessee Football Team. Players were selected based on their athletic achievements from the 2015-16 season. Coach of the Year: Scott Blade, Independence (Thompson's Station) The Eagles had never won more than 11 games in a season before Blade guided them to a perfect 15-0 campaign, capped by a 49-14 rout of Sevier County in the Class 5A title game. Independence outscored opponents 641-171 on the year. more
The Marshall County boys' basketball team brought an underwhelming 4-8 record littered with tough losses from the likes of East Nashville (13-2), Pearl-Cohn (7-3), Antioch (8-5), and Brainerd (9-3) into the Above the Rim Tournament at Hickman County High School. The Tigers proved they are on an upward trajectory after beating Hickman County (57-43), disposing of a Dickson County squad 47-36 that had beaten them just a week earlier, before losing to a Ravenwood team 56-51 to take home the runner-up trophy back to Lewisburg just in time for the district schedule to start. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (3-7) strung together consecutive wins for the first time this season when they hammered the Zion Christian Academy Lady Eagles 67-36 at home on Tuesday night. Despite getting off to a sluggish start, the Lady Bulldogs built a 30-17 lead in the first half before outscoring Zion Christian 37-19 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 31-point victory. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets (8-7) turned in a dominant defensive performance to notch their second straight win when they hammered the Page Lady Patriots 50-25 on Monday afternoon at the Eagleville Christmas Classic. Forrest put the game out of reach early and built a 28-9 lead in the first half before forging a 44-12 advantage early in the fourth quarter en route to claim the 25-point victory. more
The Forrest Rockets had a busy pre-Christmas week, coming up with a rare tie versus Fairview on Thursday and beating Franklin Road Academy 59-19 on Friday before wrestling their way to a second place finish at the Battle Ground Academy Duals on Saturday. The Rockets were in a pool with BGA, Knoxville Webb and St. Andrews-Sewanee, while the other pool consisted of Page, Fairview, FRA and St. Georges. more
The Marshall County hoops squads have been at Centerville this week, playing in the Above the Rim Christmas Invitational Tournament where the Tigerettes lost big to Dickson County in the opening round before breaking a long losing streak with a 55-20 win over host Hickman County on Tuesday. more
The Bulldogs traveled to Lynnville for the Richland Christmas Tournament still looking for its first win of the season against a talented Unionville squad. The Bulldogs would go on to lose the contest by a score of 72-47, but the Cornersville faithful can find solace knowing that the young team has not thrown in the towel on the season and is improving game by game. more
