Forrest roars back in 7th to finish undefeated in 9A 10 years ago, Forrest went undefeated in District 9A regular season play and came within one win of capturing a state tournament title. On Tuesday night at Chapel Hill, the Rockets (20-5, 12-0) pulled off a dramatic seventh inning comeback, beating MTCS 6-5 on senior night to wrap up a perfect regular season record, becoming the first District 9A team to accomplish the feat since Cascade in 2008. more
Middle Tennessee Christian School has been a thorn in the side of the Forrest Middle School Rockets all season and the pain continued for FMS on Thursday night at Liberty as the two top seeds met in the Duck River Valley Conference championship game, won by the Cougars 3-2. "We worked hard to get to this point and I'm really proud of our guys," FMS coach Chris Benne said. "The eighth grade group is a heck of a group of athletes and I wish we could have got it done." more
The Marshall County Tigerettes welcomed Class A Summertown to Lewisburg last Wednesday night in preparation for the stiff competition heading into the District 12-AA tournament later this week. The Lady Eagles, annually the top dog in District 12-A, have made three sectional appearances since 2010, only to be stopped by Forrest each time. more

The Lady Dawgs welcomed Culleoka (1-10, 1-6) to Cornersville for its last home game of the 2016 regular season and although just over 16 miles separates the two District 11A opponents, the schools are worlds apart in softball talent and Cornersville (10-6, 5-3) showed why, blanking the Warriors 11-0 before the mercy rule ended the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. more
he Marshall County Tigerettes travelled to Columbia Academy Monday night for a last minute matchup due to the rainy weather that caused the cancellation of many of the area's prep events and the game turned out to be good and bad for the Lewisburg girls, who lost 4-2 to the Lady Bulldogs. Good that they played a tight head-to-head game with a quality Class A opponent in preparation for the upcoming district tournament. more
When you see eight kids on one team stand for senior night ceremonies, it's a little melancholy to say the least when you have seen them grow up on the diamond since Little League. Thursday night at Lewisburg, the Tigers had eight seniors in the starting lineup at Joe George Field and each played a role in a 4-3 win over Lincoln County, breaking a seven game losing streak. more

The Lady Dawgs of Cornersville looked to stop a two-game skid in its tracks with a Tuesday night match-up with District 11-A bottom dweller Santa Fe on senior night. The game featured a preview of the potential of a Cornersville squad clicking on all cylinders with plenty of offense and a dominant defense to go along with a near perfect performance on the mound by pitcher Mikala King, who surrendered just one run against the Wildcats en route to a 17-1 run-rule win that was called in the bottom of the fourth inning. more
The Forrest Rockets, coming off a district title winning victory at Fayetteville on Monday hosted the Tigers on Tuesday and had some celebration rust, barely outlasting the Lincoln County squad 3-1. "The boys played well last night, we were not at our best but stepped up when needed and got a win," Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. more
unior hurler Samantha King gave her seniors a big treat Tuesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel, tossing a no-hitter on senior night in a 15-0 three inning run-rule win over Huntland. King struck out seven out of the 12 batters she faced in the contest, walked two and the other Lady Hornet reached base on a Forrest error. more
After seven losing seasons at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg, the Tigerettes have found new life in a legend as former state title winning coach David Steely was recently announced as the new head coach for Marshall County basketball. His decision was an easy one. "My decision was simple. I love MCHS and love Tigerettes basketball," Steely said. more

The Marshall County Tigers had a chance to make a little headway up the District 12AA standings Monday night, taking on first place CPA, but some sloppy fielding and not enough offense did MCHS in via a 9-3 loss to the Lions. "We made a couple of boo-boos there in the first and second inning and then we settled down and played some good baseball," MCHS coach Mike "Monk" Reese said. "They have a nice ballclub and that's why they are in first place right now." more
The Lady Dawgs had a prime opportunity to move to within striking distance of the number two spot in District 11A with a meeting against the number one seed Columbia Academy (13-6, 8-0) on Thursday night in Cornersville, but fell 7-3 to their namesakes. Cornersville (7-6, 3-3) came into the game suffering an 11-game losing streak to CA with its last win coming in the state tournament season of 2011 with an 11-3 victory in the district tournament. more
The Marshall County and Forrest boys 2016 soccer seasons have in some ways been mirrors of each other as both teams struggled to find wins early in the season despite playing top competition to the last whistle. Unlike the Rockets, the Tigers have found success as of late, winning its first contest with a convincing 5-0 win over Wayne County one game after a surprising one goal loss to then undefeated Fairview. more
