Nichirin and the Farm Center of Chapel Hill took to the diamond Thursday night tied for first place in the Marshall County Babe Ruth standings and for seven innings there was still no victor before second-year manager Bradley Maddox's squad came up with three runs in the top of the eighth to go ahead 6-3. In the bottom of the eighth, Nichirin southpaw relief man Cameron Isley slammed the door shut on the farm boys with a 1-2-3 performance to take a stranglehold of the top spot. more
A-Plus Collision Center (3-4) notched their second straight win on Tuesday night when they defeated a mistake prone Elks squad 9-1 in five innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field. Aided by seven Elk errors, A-Plus Collision Center held a 4-1 lead through the first three and a half innings of play before crossing home plate five times in the bottom of the fourth to pull away for the eight-run victory. more
After knocking off first place Nichirin the previous evening, Marshall Medical Center moved back to the .500 mark by defeating Irving Materials incorporated 9-6 on Tuesday night at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field. Although they came into the game with an 0-6 record, Irving Materials Incorporated had MMC on the ropes early on and held a 4-2 lead through the first three and a half innings of play. more
On Wednesday night, the Marshall County Dusters (10-2-1) notched their fifth straight victory when they traveled to Williamson County and defeated the Franklin Generals 13-2 in five innings at Jim Warren Park in the first game of a doubleheader. Marshall County finished with a modest six hits against two Franklin pitchers, but showed patience at the plate and drew 10 walks. The Generals also hurt their pitching staff's cause by committing seven errors, which contributed to seven of the Dusters' 13 runs. more
Having split a doubleheader against Shelbyville the previous evening, the Marshall County Dusters (6-2-1) traveled to Bedford County on Thursday night to take on the Golden Eagles in another twin bill and posted an 8-0 victory in the opening game. Nichirin took a 7-0 win over IMI Thursday night in Marshall County Babe Ruth action to remain unbeaten on the season at 6-0 as southpaw Cameron Isley tossed four innings of one-hit ball from the mound. Isley was on target in the contest as he did not walk any IMI batters and struck out three at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Field in Lewisburg. more
The Farm Center of Chapel Hill brought out the heavy aluminum Monday night as they banged out 13 hits in a 17-7 win over the defending champion Elks, including the Marshall County Babe Ruth League's first two home runs of the season by Tanner Garvin and Blake Leonard. The Farm Center plowed the Elks under early, beginning with Garvin's three-run dinger deep over the center field fence in the bottom of the first inning. more

Hollingsworth Memorial Babe Ruth Field before Marshall Medical Center stormed back to win 8-3, sending Nichirin into a tie for the top spot with the Farm Center of Chapel Hill, who defeated the Elks 17-7 in the first game. Ethan Poteete led the way for the hospital crew, tossing a complete game for the win on the mound and at the dish, Poteete put up a 2-4 performance with two runs scored and two RBIs, including a huge bases loaded, two-strike, two-run single in the fifth inning that busted the game wide open. more

On Wednesday night, the Marshall County Dusters (5-1-1) recorded their fourth straight victory when they defeated the Shelbyville Golden Eagles 7-1 at home in the first game of a doubleheader. Bolstered by two homeruns, the Dusters finished with nine hits and two walks against two Shelbyville pitchers. Aaron Thomason and Brandon Bush both tallied two hits and 2 RBI to lead Marshall County offensively with Thomason belting a homerun. Starting pitcher Cody Vernon also added a solo homerun, while Matt Sharp, Morgan Reese (1 RBI), J.B. Reese, and Jesse Kilpatrick each had one hit. more
After defeating Shelbyville 7-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday night, the Marshall County Dusters (5-2-1) had to settle for a split, as they lost 4-3 to the Golden Eagles in five innings at Joe George Field in the nightcap. The two teams were locked in a 2-2 tie through the first three innings of play, before Shelbyville scored two runs in the top of the fourth to seize a 4-2 advantage. Marshall County then sliced the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Golden Eagles staved off the rally attempt to snap the Dusters' four-game winning streak. more
With just one week remaining in the 12U softball season, H&H Communications and 3D Roofing took to the diamond at the Richard Cashion Sports Complex in Lewisburg Monday night tied for first place with one loss apiece before queen of the circle Leah Hollingsworth showed who was boss, hurling a complete game, 7-0 three-hit shutout that catapulted H&H (11-1) to sole possession of the top spot. Hollingsworth struck out seven roofing girls and walked one, while allowing just one runner to reach third base in the contest. On offense, the H&H girls took control early, scoring twice in the top of the first inning, beginning with a one-out single by Courtney Edde. Edde stole second and went to third on a passed ball before Skylar Brandon walked and took second. Autumn Kelley drove a hard grounder to first base, driving in Edde to make it 1-0 and Haley Hartley followed with a base on balls to put H&H runners at the corners. Hartley took off for second and the throw from the 3D catcher sailed into center field, allowing Brandon to trot home with the game's second run. Hollingsworth set down 3D Roofing 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning and H&H failed to score in the visitor's portion of the second. With one down in the home half of the frame, 3D's Brooke Paul laced a double to left, but Hollingsworth stood firm, whiffing the next two batters to snuff out the threat. 3D starter Jordan Yelensky escaped a two-on, two-out jam in the third when first baseman Natalie Lampley snagged a hard grounder at first to end the inning. In the bottom of the stanza, 3D's Haley Hicks and Emma Stacey book-ended a pair of walks around a strikeout issued by Hollingsworth, but a double play on a pop-up to Edde at second base squelched the scoring opportunity for the roofers. Hartley reached on a one-out error by 3D in the fourth, stole second and went to third on a balk before Hollingsworth drilled an RBI double to center, making it three-zip. Yelensky and Paul hit back-to-back line drive singles to left with one down in the bottom of the fourth, but H&H backstop Brandon snagged a pop-up for the second out before Hollingsworth squeezed a lazy pop-up back to the circle for the third out. There was no scoring in there fifth inning, but in the top of the sixth, H&H busted the game wide open, scoring four times to put 3D Roofing (7-2) on the short end of a 7-0 stick. Edde, Brandon, and Kelley all had RBIs that scored Grace Smith, Zaderea Beard, Macy Smith and Hollingsworth in the pull-away inning. Hollingsworth had no trouble closing out the contest, setting down 3D in order in the home half of the sixth, giving her squad the top spot of the Marshall County Youth Baseball & Softball League 12U standings. The H&H offense was led by Edde (2-4), who scored twice, drove home one and stole a base, Kelley had two hits in three at bats, stole two bases, knock in two of her teammates and stole a sack, while Hollingsworth (1-3, 1 run, 1 RBI, 1 steal), Brandon (1-3, 1 run, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB), Macy Smith ((1-1, 1 run, 1 SB), while Hartley and Grace Smith had two bases on balls and scored a run apiece. Paul had two hits for 3D and Yelensky had the other base knock off Hollingsworth. more
It was a classic pitcher's duel in Monday night's 12U softball nightcap as Mane Street Salon's Samantha King and Cornersville Lions Club's Mikaela King squared off with the second place Chapel Hill squad prevailing 3-0. Samantha King tossed five innings of no-hit ball from the circle for Mane Street before Daelyn Dowers came on in relief in the sixth. more
It was the battle of the Marshall County Babe Ruth League unbeaten Thursday night at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Field in Lewisburg as Nichirin took on the Chapel Hill Farm Center. In the end, it was Nichirin's David Looney who catapulted his squad to a 9-2 win as the lefty hurled a five-hit, 11 strikeout complete game gem and at the plate, Looney did some heavy damage, going 3-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. more
