The front lobby of Westhills Elementary School was filled with excited students and family members the afternoon of Tuesday, March 6, as judges were sealed away in the school's cafeteria judging the Countywide Science Fair.
As the moments turned to minutes and the minutes seemed to go on forever, a student would occasionally walk to the safely-guarded cafeteria door window to see if they could catch a glimpse at what the judges were doing.
Then between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m., the judges emerged . . . .

Marshall Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Week, which honors Dr. Seuss's birthday, by wearing funny hats, pajamas, silly socks and mismatched shoes. They wore their clothing inside out and invited guest readers into their classrooms to share the joy of reading. But the MES boys and girls decided they wanted to do something more, something special for others to recognize Dr. Seuss. Under the guidance of the school's book committee, the students made the decision to collect books to donate to Marshall County's Head Start program, setting their goal at 200.
