Members of Westhills Elementary School's Principal's Advisory Council (P.A.C.) are constantly looking for ways to help folks in their community. Now they're helping locals who are currently in communities far away; they have collected goods to be sent to our soldiers overseas.
When P.A.C. sponsors offered the idea to the organization's members, the boys and girls became excited about helping those who are in harm's way. On collection day they brought in everything from socks, toothbrushes, washcloths and hand sanitizer, to coffee, snack crackers, chewing gum and candy.
On Thursday, April 12, Sgt. Robert Meigs of Recruitment/Retainment Command in Smyrna, stopped by the school to collect the donations. He stated that the items will be sent to the Alpha 1st & 115th Unit which is headquartered in Lawrenceburg but currently serving in Iraq (just 20 minutes outside of Fallujah).
"This unit is made up of volunteers from all over the state," Sgt. Meigs said. "They will appreciate the donations and they'll really appreciate you all thinking about them."
