William Stanley Smith, 69, of Lynnville, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at Maury Regional Hospital. He was a native of Athens, AL, the son of the late William Allen Smith and Ila Dean Nelson Collins. William Stanley Smith, 69, of Lynnville, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at Maury Regional Hospital.

He was a native of Athens, AL, the son of the late William Allen Smith and Ila Dean Nelson Collins. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 47 years and was a member of the Lynnville Church of Christ. He served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Hobbs Smith; sons, Michael (Sheila) Coleman, Steven (Rachel) Smith; daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Smith Lowe; sister, Sheila Hastings, all of Lynnville; brother, Phillip Smith of Franklin; grandchildren, Jade (Dustin) Oertle, James Mac Coleman, Colby Blake Lowe, Tyler Lowe, Brittian, Brooks Smith; and one great-grandchild, Nolan Oertle.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday, September 20, 2020, at 2 p.m. Lynnwood Cemetery and burial followed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lynnwood Cemetery or Lynnville Church of Christ.

London Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with the arrangements.
