Funeral services for William Harold “Bill” Jones, 79, of Shelbyville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2017, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Ed Boggess & Brother Lance Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Mr. Jones passed from this life Monday evening, Sept. 24, 2018, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Born July 28, 1939, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late James Robert Jones, Sr. & Ruth Noah Jones. Mr. Bill was preceded in death by a brother James Robert Jones, Jr.
Mr. Bill started his working career as a mechanical superintendent for Fluor Daniel Construction, after 20 years of service; he then owned and operated Jones Trucking Company for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his friends at Sally’s Market in Flat Creek. He was a member of Fairlane Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Hardison Jones; children, Vonda (Gregg) Lohay of Bell Buckle and Phillip (Shelley) Jones of Flat Creek Community; sister, Linda (Ralph) Stroud of Rogersville, AL; grandchildren, Will (Amy) Stover, Phillip James (Jacey) Jones, Kathleen (Justin) Brady, Zach Jones, and Rachel Lohay; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
