LEWISBURG — A night after hammering the Webb School to the tune of 17 runs on 13 hits, offense was tough to come by against top-notch pitching from Central Magnet.
In a low-scoring affair, it was Central Magnet that edged the Marshall County Tigers on Tuesday night in a 2-1 final score.
Central Magnet wasted no time and plated the game’s first run in the top of the first frame, but starting pitcher Bailin Luttrell settled in and kept the visitors from plating another run until the fourth inning.
He pitched four innings and gave up just two runs on six hits while striking out three before the Tigers turned to Eli Cross in relief.
Cross pitched the final three innings and gave up just one hit while striking out six.
James Hery and Trey Warner connected for the only base hits of the night for the Tigers.
Marshall County is back on its home field on Thursday night, hosting Cascade for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
