LEWISBURG — A night after hammering the Webb School to the tune of 17 runs on 13 hits, offense was tough to come by against top-notch pitching from Central Magnet.
In a low-scoring affair, it was Central Magnet that edged the Marshall County Tigers on Tuesday night in a 2-1 final score.
Central Magnet wasted no time and plated the game’s first run in the top of the first frame, but starting pitcher Bailin Luttrell settled in and kept the visitors from plating another run until the fourth inning.
He pitched four innings and gave up just two runs on six hits while striking out three before the Tigers turned to Eli Cross in relief.
Cross pitched the final three innings and gave up just one hit while striking out six.
James Hery and Trey Warner connected for the only base hits of the night for the Tigers.
Marshall County is back on its home field on Thursday night, hosting Cascade for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.

BELL BUCKLE — A monster seventh inning landed the Marshall County Tigers a massive, 13-run win in Monday night’s season opener at the Webb School.
The Tigers plated nine runs in the seventh inning to hand the Feet a 17-4 loss.
There was plenty of offense to go around as the Tigers connected on 13 hits against six Webb pitchers.
Webb took the early lead, but a three-run third inning put the Tigers in front and gave Marshall County a lead they never gave up.
Two triples and a sac-fly plated three runs for the Tigers in the third.
Trey Warner and John Morgan Thomas both connected on RBI triples and Reid Mitchell hit a sac-fly to put the Tigers up 3-1.
Webb got one back in the bottom of the third, but Marshall County added three more in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take an 8-2 lead.
The Tigers hammered the Feet to the tune of five extra base hits, with Bailin Luttrell going 2-for-5 with a double and a triple.
