Lane Whitesell (1 RBI) and Aaron Hobbs notched one hit apiece for the Tigers as well with Hobbs stealing four bases and scoring three runs.

Seventh win

Sharp also turned in an impressive performance on the mound to earn his seventh victory of the season, as he piled up nine strikeouts in seven innings of work while allowing just one unearned run on four hits and a walk.

Bulldog starting pitcher Logan Hill went the distance on the mound and suffered the loss. Kolton Miley tallied two hits and a RBI to pace Hickman County at the plate, while Cole Patton and Zac Harvill each had one hit.

Marshall County grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Hobbs scored on a RBI single by McKnight after leading off the frame with a single, stealing second, and advancing to third on an infield single by Sharp.

The Bulldogs had a chance to get on the board in the top of the second after putting runners on first and second with one out thanks to a single by Miley and a Bryan Garren walk, but Sharp fanned the next two Hickman County batters to snuff out the threat.

MCHS then stretched their lead to 3-0 by pushing across two runs in the bottom of the second with the help of a Houghton infield single, a passes ball, a Bulldog throwing error, and a RBI groundout by Sharp.

More offense

Hill managed to hold the Tigers scoreless in the third inning, but Marshall County opened up a 4-0 advantage in the bottom of the fourth when Houghton raced home on a sacrifice fly by Grayson Wiles after leading off the frame with a single and advancing to third on two passed balls.

MCHS then tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-0. After leading off the inning with a single and advancing to second on a Whitesell groundout, McKnight sprinted home on a RBI single by McDaniel.

Hickman County spoiled Sharp's shutout bid by plating a run in the top of the sixth on an error, a hit batsman, and a Miley RBI single to trim the deficit to 5-1.

The Tigers then put the game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth and tallied four runs in the frame with the aid of two Bulldog errors, a single by Matt Sharp, a double steal, a McKnight walk, and a RBI single by Whitesell to forge a 9-1 advantage.

In the top of the seventh, Sharp worked around a pair of singles by Harvill and Patton to wrap up Marshall County's ninth straight win.
