NASHVILLE — After falling to Tullahoma in Week 4 of the 2021 season, the Marshall County Tigers (4-1, 2-1) responded in a big way, thumping Hillwood (0-4, 0-1)on the road to bounce back in the win column, 55-0.

Quarterback Devonte Davis was as efficient as possible, completing all nine of his pass attempts for 214 yards and two touchdowns.

He carried the ball three times for 25 yards and a rushing touchdown as well.

His two passing touchdowns both went to Jayden Hart for 48 and 65 yards.

The Tigers wasted no time, with Davis scoring the game’s first touchdown on a 12-yard run.

Barely three minutes later, Davis connected with Hart for the 48-yard strike, before Demari Braden scored on a four-yard carry in the final minute of the opening frame.

The Tigers found pay dirt two more times in the half, once on Davis’ 65-yard bomb to Hart and a final first-half score on a 10-yard carry by Trice Gordon.

Kicker Wyatt Joyce connected on 4-of-5 extra point attempts and the Tigers led 34-0 at the half.

With command of the game well in-hand, the Tigers were able to work the reserves on the field in the second half and there was virtually no let down by the Marshall County offense.

Braden scored his second touchdown of the night early in the third frame on a five-yard carry.

The Tigers scored two more times in the fourth quarter, the first of which came on a two-yard pass from Trey Warner to Markese Davis and a final touchdown by Kamariq Perryman.

Jorge Campuzano and Thomas Beech also were perfect on their extra point attempts as well.

Hart was the top producer in the Tiger pass game, hauling in two catches for 113 yards and a pair of scores.

Markese Davis added four catches for 49 yards and a score as well.

In total, the Tigers churned out 194 yards on the ground and were led by Trice Gordon’s eight carries for 65 yards.

Braden added 57 yards on eight touches as well.

As a passing unit, three Tigers combined to complete 13-of-15 tries for 250 yards.

In total, Marshall County totaled 444 yards of offense.

Defensively, the Tigers were a terror for the Hilltoppers.

As a team, Marshall County combined for eight tackles for loss and were led by Grayson Miller and Jakavan Curry, who each had six tackles.

The Tigers also won the turnover battle, recording two interceptions by Khamani Ewing and Marquay Allen and a fumble recovery by Reid Mitchell.

Marshall County sits idle this week and returns home next Friday and will host Lawrence County at 7 p.m.
