Tigerettes bounce back big against Page, win 12-2

The Marshall County Tigerettes (22-8) bounced back from Friday's D12-AA Tournament upset loss to East Hickman in a big way on Tuesday, run ruling the Page Lady Patriots 12-2 in five innings at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg.

"It was a do or die type of thing, win or go home and the girls have responded to that," said MCHS head coach Holly Cook. "I told them you have to leave everything out on field where there are no regrets if we win or lose, just leave it all out there and I think they did a good job of that today."

Winning pitcher

Jacey Perryman picked up a complete game victory in the circle for MCHS with all four hits she surrendered in the contest, coming in the second inning.

Perryman was perfect the rest of the time, retiring the side in order in the first, third, fourth, and fifth innings.

The only blemish off the sophomore hurler was a two-run homerun by Page pitcher Reagan Elliot in the top of the second.

Perryman swung a big stick as well, going 2-3 with two RBIs as Marshall County banged out 13 hits in the contest, batting around in the third and fourth innings.

"I told the girls is doesn't matter who the pitcher is, it's the same mechanics every time, so hopefully we can get that through our heads and keep it rolling," said Cook.

Perfect night

Morgan Moyers had a perfect 4-4 night at the plate with a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base.

Madison Thomason, who opened up the scoring for the Tigerettes with a first inning RBI base knock, went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Ashton Watkins seemed to be everywhere with one hit, two bases on balls, two stolen bases, and three runs scored, while McKenzie Jo Anderson (2-3, 2RS, 2RBIs) also had two hits in the game.

Austyn Whaley (1-3, 2RS, 2SB) and Madison Hargrove (1-3, RS) both produced a single base knock, while Mecia Reed had a sac bunt and scored once.

The Tigerettes scored three times in the bottom of the first before Elliot made it a one-run ballgame on her first career home run in the top of the second.

Confidence

"I think we got some confidence tonight, a lot of people hit the ball hard, one through nine, everybody was hitting it and we need that," said Cook. "We are going to have to put up a lot of runs, so I hope this will push us through the rest of the tournament."

From there, Perryman owned the circle and the Tigerettes' offense went into full gear, scoring four runs in the third and five more in the fourth to put the game away.

The Tigerettes host Lewis County on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in a loser's bracket game, while Giles County and East Hickman meet in a winner's bracket final in Pulaski.

The winner of the Tigerettes/Lewis County game will play the loser of the Giles County/East Hickman game on Thursday and the District 12-AA championship game is slated for Friday at the site of the highest remaining seed.
