When Ethan Stewmon signed on the dotted line Monday morning to attend Martin Methodist College in Pulaski on a soccer scholarship, it was the culmination of years of hard work and the realization of a dream that began in England when he was 5 years old, watching soccer games on television while his father Kent was stationed in the British Isles as a member of the U.S. Air Force.
Ethan Stewmon knows all about hard work and what it takes to be successful.
The senior goalkeeper was home-schooled until the ninth grade, then reached for the stars to become a high honors student at Marshall County High School, a black belt in Taekwondo, and leader of the Tiger soccer program for four years.
Asked how he felt about his new opportunity, Stewmon said, "It finally feels like all of my hard work has paid off. Soccer is something I have always loved and wanted to do after college."
Stewmon has lifted the Tiger soccer program on his back and propelled it to heights unseen in many years.
