MCHS, Forrest compete in state cross country meet

HENDERSONVILLE — The Marshall County Tigers and Tigerettes, as well as the Forrest Lady Rockets, were well-represented on Friday in the Class A-AA state cross country meet, which was held at Sanders Ferry Park.
In the Girls Class A-AA race, 235 runners competed for the state title.
The Tigerettes took 20th overall as a team, while the Lady Rockets finished 18th overall.
Lady Rocket junior Jaedyn Stalnecker was the top finisher for either squad from Marshall County, turning in a fine performance in 21:29, good enough for 34th overall.
Taylor Crumley was the next Lady Rocket runner to finish. She crossed the line in 23:28 for a 114th finish. 
Abby Davenport and Justina Mosley were the next two Forrest runners to finish, turning in a time of 23:29 and 23:32, respectively.
Marysa Edde was the final Lady Rocket to finish the race. She finished in 26:28.
For the Tigerettes, it was a 20th overall finish in the team standings, with Lydia Molina finishing in 23:00.
Kamea and Kamaria Johnson followed for Marshall County and finished in 23:36 and 23:45, while Brady Phillips finished in 24:05.
Sarina Yamashita finished in 24:14.
Central Magnet’s Samantha Ouellette was the top finisher to lead Central Magnet to the team championship.
In the Boys A-AA race, the Tigers turned in a 27th overall team finish.
Of the 31 teams that competed in the race, Central Magnet took the team win with 74 points.
The Tigers finished their season, finishing the state meet in 27th place.
Krew Capps was the top finisher for the Tigers. He took 44th overall and finished his season with a 17:57 final time.
Ayden Cook was the next finisher for the Tigers, crossing the finish line in 19:33.
McKinley Allen followed in 184th in 20:30, while Alex Patino turned in a 21:15 final time. 
Terrence Bishop was the final scoring member of the Tigers to finish the state meet. He finished his season with a 24:07.
Creek Wood junior Jackson Martin won the race in 15:41.
