To open the March 14 Marshall County Board of Education meeting, Director of Schools Jacob Sorrells and Elementary Curriculum Supervisor Tammy Lewis introduced and honored the 2022 Teachers of the Year.
Every year, the faculty of each school selects a teacher from their building to be the Teacher of the Year in the following categories: K-4, 5-8, and 9-12. Once a building level teacher is chosen, a committee meets to choose a districtwide Teacher of the Year in each of those categories.
The 2022 Building Level Teachers of the Year are: Chapel Hill Elementary School – Amanda Chilton; Delk-Henson Intermediate School – Keely Harris St. Holmes (4th grade); Delk-Henson Intermediate School – Jill Davis (5-6); Forrest School – Karen Lemay (7-8); Forrest School – Laura Carter (9-12); Cornersville Elementary School – Katrina Hileman (K-4); Cornersville Elementary School – Connie Campbell (5-6); Cornersville School – Martha Jane McMasters (7-8); Cornersville School – Lane Worley (9-12); Oak Grove Elementary School – Tiffany Kidder; Marshall Elementary School – Deshawn Ewing; Westhills Elementary School – Katie Vernon (4th); Westhills Elementary School – Brandie Burchell (5-6); Lewisburg Middle School – Carey Truesdale; Marshall County High School – Vanessa Sweeney; Spot Lowe Technology Center – Lynda Skillington.
The 2022 District Teachers of the Year are: Deshawn Ewing (K-4), Brandie Burchell (5-8), and Laura Carter (9-12).
