CHAPEL HILL — It was feast or famine for several teams in the Viking Classic over the weekend and the Forrest Rockets feasted on three big wins, with victories coming against Lawrence County (8-3, Alexandria-Monroe (Ind.) (10-3), and Richland (15-8).
Forrest kicked off a busy weekend with a convincing win over Lawrence County on Thursday night, beating the Wildcats 8-4.
Forrest got lucky on its first run of the game, scoring after Kason Fuller ground into a double play.
But even with the two outs, Carte Walk followed in the next at-bat with a RBI single and Austin Dillon singled home a third run in the first inning.
Lawrence County evened the score with three runs in the third, but the Rockets closed the game by plating four unanswered runs to take their first win of the ‘Classic.
Carter Walk pitched six strong innings for the Rockets and gave up just three runs on four hits while striking out three.

Forrest 10, Alexandria-Monroe 3
During Friday afternoon’s matinee, it was a gradual progression of consistent offense that landed Forrest its second win of the weekend in a 10-3 victory over Alexandria-Monroe.
Luke Allen went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Rocket offense past Alexandria-Monroe.
In total, the Rockets hammered out 11 hits, with three different Rockets connecting for two-hit games.
Tyler Baxter and Allen both added extra base hits as well.
After being held scoreless in the first inning, Forrest went on to score in each of the following five innings and grabbed the lead with the first run in the second inning.
A three-run third inning seemingly gave Forrest total control of the game, but Alexandria-Monroe stormed right back with three runs in the bottom of the frame to cut the Rocket lead to one run.
Forrest responded by scoring five unanswered runs to close the game, including four in the top of the sixth inning before the game was called due to the two-hour time limit.
Kason Fuller pitched all five innings for the Rockets and struck out five, while giving up three runs on eight hits.

Offense was in no short supply in the final game of the weekend between Forrest and Richland.
Highlighted by a 10-run fourth inning, the Rockets built a big enough lead to survive a four-run, fifth-inning rally to beat the Raiders, 15-8.
Preston Gentry and Carter walk combined to drive in seven of Forrest’s 15 runs against Richland and extra base hits were aplenty for the Rockets.
Tyler Baxter went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and connected on two doubles in the win.
Kason Fuller and Bryce Tankersley also doubled in the win as well.
