Paul Ray King, I, 81, born July 22, 1938, was the son of the Cecil White and Velma Ruth Moore King. Mr. King passed from this life Friday, March 27, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
A native of Bedford County, Paul lived in several different counties growing up, starting in Bedford County, Marshall, Davidson, and then back to Marshall County where he graduated from Petersburg High School class of 1956. He served his country in the Marine Corps before starting his family. He began his working career in South Carolina before returning to TN and gained employment with Cooper Steel, and then to Eaton Corporation and would retire after 30+ years of employment. In the early 80’s, Paul became a preacher and spread the gospel for 20 years in various communities such as, Yell, Cane Creek, Unionville, and Deason. He was a member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ. He enjoyed taking care of family and friends, traveling throughout the U.S., and cheering for the UT Vols.
He is preceded in death by beloved wives, Wilma Farrar King, Toleta Pressgrove King, and Rebecca Thompson King; brothers, Fred, Frank, and Donald King; and step-daughter, Lori Jean Lovvorn.
Survivors include children, Brenda (Matt) Dillon of Petersburg, Paul Ray (Lydia) King, II of Petersburg, and Jason (Tricia) King of Smyrna; step-children, Steve Lovvorn of Manchester, Angela Lovvorn of Morrison, and Tisha Lovvorn of Wartrace; grandchildren, Mikaela, Kaitlyn, Austin, Trinity, Molly, Silas, Hollis, and Adalyn King; sister, Wanda (Larry) Hames of the Richmond community.
Memorial donations may be made to Lone Oak Church of Christ, 2419 Hwy 130, Petersburg, TN 37144 or to Unionville Church of Christ, C.O. 2398 Hwy 130 W., Petersburg, TN 37144.
Private graveside service will be held Monday, March 30, 2020, at Talley Cemetery in Petersburg, TN with Jeff Smith officiating.
