Page rallies past Tigers on Senior Night stunner

LEWISBURG — After hanging onto a slim, first-half lead against visiting Page on Senior Night, the Marshall County Tigers fell behind in the second half and dropped the regular season finale, 57-53.
After the Tigers led, 29-24 at the break, it was a 17-point, third-quarter that knotted the game at 41-apiece.
Page’s Josh Spinnine hit a pair of free throws to give the Patriots a 41-39 lead.
But it was a last-second basket by Tiger sophomore Aja Jones that left the game tied at 41 by the end of the third.
The Patriots maintained a two to four-point lead through much of the fourth quarter, but it was again Jones who hit a basket with 2:45 to go to pull within one possession.
Then, with 1:55 to go, Jabrae Howard connected on a game-tying basket.
With aggressive play continuing to be the storyline through the remainder of regulation, neither team was able to connect on a shot from the floor and instead, relied on key free throw shooting in the closing minutes.
It was Page, who was able to draw enough fouls and come through with enough makes at the charity stripe to preserve the four-point win.
In the final two minutes, Page made good on 4-of-5 attempts, while the Tigers managed just 1-of-3 tries in the same time period.
While point guard Jamahl Gentry has been the Tigers’ leading scorer throughout the bulk of the schedule, Page had him marked and limited him to single digits—six points on the night, which included a trey.
It was Jones and Marcus O’Neal who carried the load for Marshall County on Senior Night.
Jones finished with 15 points, while O’Neal added 10.
Page’s Issac Power led all scorers with 24 points.
