Mary Jane McClendon, 78, of Petersburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at her residence.
She was a native of Marshall County, the daughter of the late John Alvis and Nancey Williams King. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church. She loved the great outdoors, especially while she was fishing, hunting, gardening, working flowers, or picking up rocks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Alvis King.
She is survived by husband, Gary McClendon; two daughters, Lisa Pitman, of Madison, AL, Nancy Smith of Candler, NC; son, Monty Joe Rodgers of Clyde, NC; sister, Gladys Tucker of Cornersville; brother, Carl King of Lewisburg; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. McClendon’s body will be cremated and visitation with the family will begin on Sunday, October 27, 2019, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
