The Marshall County Wrestling Club competed in three different tournaments in two states last Saturday.

The club continues to improve, piling up 25 wins over the weekend as the grapplers took home eight medals, including two championships.

With the season just beginning, the MCWC looks toward another campaign of growth, development, and success.

There are certain times of the year that require the club to split up and compete in multiple tournaments with last Saturday one of those occasions as the diversity of the group demands that they move to compete where they have the opportunity.

On the road

The group has members ranging from Kindergarten to 8th Grade of all skill levels. The MCWC has some advanced wrestlers, who headed off to a Top 100 tournament in Pigeon Forge as well as other advanced wrestlers choosing to take their talents to Huntsville, AL.

The other group, which consisted of first-year wrestlers, competed in Franklin at a beginner tournament. "We have some very competitive wrestlers in our club and they are willing to go the extra mile to compete and improve their craft," said Coach Chris Posey.

It takes time in a sport like wrestling to achieve consistent success.

The MCWC focuses on long-term development, ensuring that wrestlers gain the foundational skills they need for future success. "You can take shortcuts in wrestling to get some quick wins, but when the time comes to compete for something real and meaningful, you won't have what it takes to succeed," Said Posey.

Competition matters

The MCWC strives to put it's wrestlers in competitive situations that will push their wrestlers and demand that they give their best and earn what they achieve. "We're not interested in collecting a bunch of meaningless wins against inferior competition," Posey said. "The club understands the value of striving for excellence and the rewards that go with it."

In its third season, the MCWC is starting to see the fruits of their labor. "The club's seasoned wrestlers are starting to show great skill in how they conduct themselves on the mat," said Posey. "It's also important for the club's new wrestlers to see what it takes to have success in the sport from the example of those who came before them."

The club looks to continue to have a great season and to continue its wining ways wherever they compete.
