LMS hoops squads move on

Due to the ice storm on Tuesday and more bad weather on Thursday, the LMS hoops squads had their second round TMSAA Area 2/Class AA Tournament games pushed back to Friday at Lewis County Middle School.

The LMS girls sent early shockwaves through the tournament, opening up with a four-overtime 22-19 instant classic win over previously unbeaten and second seeded Bridgeforth Monday night.

LMS hoops squads move on

Due to the ice storm on Tuesday and more bad weather on Thursday, the LMS hoops squads had their second round TMSAA Area 2/Class AA Tournament games pushed back to Friday at Lewis County Middle School.

The LMS girls sent early shockwaves through the tournament, opening up with a four-overtime 22-19 instant classic win over previously unbeaten and second seeded Bridgeforth Monday night.

Leah Hollingsworth led the seventh seeded Tigerettes with 10 points, including two three-pointers, while Zachuriya O'Neal scored six points, Taianda Hutton chipped in with four points and Kendrah Ashby netted a deuce.

The Tigerettes (3-10) take on No. 6 Spring Hill (5-11) at 4:30 p.m. Friday with the winner moving on to Saturday afternoon's championship game, slated to start at 3:30 p.m.

The loser will play in the consolation game 1p.m. Saturday.

For the undefeated Tigers, it was business as usual when they destroyed Hickman County 56-21 in round one.

Southpaw point guard D'Andre Brown continued his outstanding season, leading LMS in the scoring column with 17 points; Jay Howard poured in 15 points, Tre Crutcher was also in double figures with 10 points, Caleb Fields netted five points, Tavi McLean drilled one three-pointer, and Keevon Maxwell, Donathon Tears and Grant Agnew all added two points apiece.

The top-seeded Tigers (13-0) take on host Lewis County (11-7) at 8:15 p.m. on Friday night in a round two battle.

The boys' championship game will begin at 2:15 p.m. Saturday in Hohenwald.
