After beating District 9-A foe Eagleville 10-1 in the afternoon, the Forrest Lady Rockets travelled over to Manchester, hoping for a big weekend at the Coffee County Classic, but only got in one rain-soaked 6-2 loss to Marion County (24-8) before the sky opened up in a deluge, cancelling the remainder of the tournament.

While the Forrest bats started silent off Lady Warrior starting pitcher Erica O'Kane, Marion County came out on fire, putting up two runs in the second, one in the third, and three in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.

Jordan Harity's two-run triple put the Lady Warriors ahead in inning number two and an RBI base knock by O'Kane in the third made it 3-0.

An infield single by Jessica Harmon in the top of third was the first hit off O'Kane for Forrest and in the top of the fourth, Katie Warrick singled for the Lady Rockets' second hit.

Rainy rally

Two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth put Marion County up 6-0 as the rain began to fall in earnest before Forrest finally got a rally going in the top of the fifth.

Savannah Brothers led off with a base hit to left field and Harmon followed with another hit to left.

A bobble on the play allowed Brothers to score from first base and two batters later, Mays drove in Brothers before the game ended on groundout.

Harmon ended up with two hits, while Mays, Warrick, and Brothers had one hit apiece.

Sara Jordan picked up the loss in the circle, giving up four earned runs on eight hits, while striking out three and walking two Lady Warriors' batters.
