The Forrest Lady Rockets finished in third place in the Division I, Small Class, District 11 Golf Tournament on Tuesday at the Buford Ellington Golf Course inside Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill.

Maggie Browning led the way for the Lady Rockets with 102, Carissa Curtis was one shot behind at 103, and Christa Warren shot 150. The top two scores are used to determine the girls’ team score.

Lady Rockets qualify for region golf tournament, boys send three qualifiers

The Forrest Lady Rockets finished in third place in the Division I, Small Class, District 11 Golf Tournament on Tuesday at the Buford Ellington Golf Course inside Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill.

Maggie Browning led the way for the Lady Rockets with 102, Carissa Curtis was one shot behind at 103, and Christa Warren shot 150. The top two scores are used to determine the girls’ team score.

The Hickman County Lady Bulldogs claimed their third consecutive district title with a score of 187 with low medalist Harper Shelton leading the way with a 90, while Addison Dorton shot 97 and Kilee Jenkins carded a 122.

Cascade finished in third place with a team score of 192 as Chandler Noel and Kennedy Miller shot 96’s and Hannah Clay carded a 127

The top three teams qualified for next week’s Division I, Small Class, Region 6 at Lawrenceburg Country Club.

The other five individual qualifiers for the region tournament are Eagleville’s Alex Klarer (97) and Kylie Vaughn (113), and East Hickman’s Shelby Bentley (123), Emily Bentley (130), and Syklar Collier (147).

On the boys side it was the Evan Woosley-Reed show once again as the Cascade junior blistered the 6,268-yard tract with a 3-under-par 69 to win low medalist honors for the third season in a row.

The Cascade junior and University of Tennessee verbal signee also shot 69 last year and shot 66 as a freshman and finished as the state runnerup in 2018 and 2019.

Reed had birdies on holes number three, four, seven, eight, eleven, and twelve and had bogies on one, six, fourteen and seventeen while parring the other eight holes.

The Cascade (368) team qualified for the region tournament, finishing in third place as Garrett Rucker shot 91, Hunter Williams carded a 95, and Landon Lane needed 113 strokes.

The top four boys’ scores are used to calculate the team total.

Hickman County and defending district champion Eagleville came to the clubhouse tied at 356 and it was the Bulldogs who claimed the district title in a playoff.

Kaynon Pruitt led the Bulldogs with an 84, Jordan Conley was one shot back of his teammate with an 85, Westin Elkins had a 91, and Case Martin shot 114.

Will Bales led Eagleville with an 80, CJ Bega shot 88, Cole Blackwell carded a 90, Josh Jeffcoat 98, and Eli Driver rounded out the scoring with a 105.

The Forrest Rockets finished in fourth place, shooting a team score of 377 as Noah Brown led Chapel Hill with a 92, Sebastian Thompson was one shot behind his teammate with a 93, Trey Williamson came to the clubhouse in 94 strokes, Carter Jones 98, and Bryson Smith shot a 102.

Brown, Thompson, and Williamson all qualified for the individual portion of the region along with East Hickman’s Levi Gibbons (96) and Community’s Logan Miller (97). Jones is the first alternate.

The Division I, Small Class, Region 6 at Lawrenceburg Country Club is on Monday, September 21 beginning at 8 a.m.
